Walking and Cooking

After some hmmmmming and haaaaing because the forecast rain had come Nicky and I decided we would walk - keeping the route fluid so that we could head back home if the heavens opened.  As it happened they did not.  We managed to do our regular walk into Inea and back into Droushia in what started out as cool temperatures but by the end we were feeling pretty warm.  We called in via the community office for Nicky to pick up her bills and for me to see if Lakis and Argy had received a proper water bill (they had but it took no account of the money they paid when they left in September).  Whilst in there we caught up with Kelly - I haven't seen her for quite a while but she was, as always, a hoot - I have missed not doing the local crafts with her pre-Christmas - Covid put paid to that and now I guess government finances will too.

We pass a small herd of cows on this route, normally they are way off in the distance but today one was close enough to get a photograph - just as I was about to snap the cow was ready to poo - I managed to miss that particular treat although the tail is still positioned ready for more!!!  People say they never see cows in Cyprus - they obviously haven't been up this way as there are always some in or around Droushia.

We had a quiet day at home which was lovely.  We did a bit of tidying and I rustled up a fridge surprise supper.  We had tomatoes and peppers needing eating along with some onion left from making the pasties and some of the roasted tomato and red pepper soup which we had as a starter on our Christmas Day with Kaye.  This shouted pasta sauce to me and so I added the remains of the parmesan cheese that Jan had given me and some basil out of the garden (amazingly for Droushia there is still some surviving).  We cooked up some penne pasta and tossed it in for what turned out to be a really delicious meal.

It had been a grey and miserable day today, the same is forecast for tomorrow and the next day so we had the first lighting of the woodburner this evening.  About an hour in we had all the windows and doors open throughout the house because it was bouncing - Charlie was very happy - he loves to toast himself by the fire.

Minnie and Boris didn't get so close but were snuggled down with us as we started to watch The English - we managed three episodes which is really good for us and I am enjoying it.

Thanks Mr CYTA man for coming today to check out why our internet kept dropping at the weekend - it seemed to remain stable this evening so that is good and also thanks to Mr AVIVA man for ringing me back as promised and for confirming that they have discovered what the issue is with Mum's pension and that it will be resolved by next week.  Thank the lord for that - at least I will have something to tell her when I see her on Wednesday.

All in all a nice relaxing day.  Out with the Lordos Ladies tomorrow for lunch which will be nice.
