January 13th

Yesterday

Today

Friday 13th We had a much brighter start to the day today but sadly it didn't last.  I took the same shot yesterday and today so you can see the difference.  I was shooting off down to Paphos to get my hair cut.  Lovely Lumi is due an operation at the beginning of February so I was going to ask her to give my hair a right old short back and sides because it might be quite a while before I get the opportunity to see her.  That was all I was going to do save for getting some veg for Sunday when Mum and Lilian and coming for lunch.

After the recent storms there is now evidence of snow on the mountains and looking down to Latchi and the hills of Turkey it looks like there has been some snow there too.  Today there were layers of white cloud sitting on top.  From Kathikas I could clearly see some snow on the Troodos, not much but they are expecting more over the weekend.  We moan about the winters here - fortunately they are brief - the big problem is the difficulty in keeping the houses warm.  Last night was the coldest night we have had so far - over night it drops down to single figures and our bedroom was a balmy or rather barmy 10 degrees.  Fair enough I don't like a warm bedroom but both John and I didn't hang about getting changed and into bed!  Thankfully Charlie had taken himself off there earlier and was asleep on my half which meant his body warmth had worked its way through for me - better than having a hot water bottle!

On my return from Paphos with newly coiffed hair we were meeting up with Nicky and Mark for the New Year and going to Fitos for some lunch.  The clouds had started to amass and so we layered up and set off. In the extended section to the side there is now a wood burner which is good but I had booked our favourite table which benefits from being in the corner and gets any sun which is available.  It was actually very comfortable in there.  We went early which was not a bad thing as by the time we had eaten it was beginning to fill up.

We had a lovely time - Nicky and Mark have been busy with friends who have been visiting for the Festive Season so today was about the first chance we had had to catch up.  Even though they live opposite it can be days before we see them - especially when the weather is wet as we all tend to batten down the hatches.  Anyway it's not like we are going anywhere so we catch up as and when we can.

OMG the food was amazing.   Nicky and Mark were both beef pie newbies and converts.  John had a dinosaur sized pork chop and I plumped for one of the specials - sweet and sour chicken which was absolutely delicious and bless Michaela our waitress she brought us a small bowl to try before we made a decision.  I was just concerned that it might have been chicken on the bone but it was lovely chicken breast.

By the time we returned home the weather was back to being grey and miserable so we said our goodbyes and locked the gate and got ourselves ready for the afternoon/evening.  John lit the woodburner and we settled down to another binge-fest of Succession.  We are now half way through season 2.  Really enjoying this so after the footie tomorrow we shall continue.
