Mr Boo is very poorly

I think it is fair to say that we had a poor night's sleep because we were so concerned about not getting Boris to the vets on time because he had wandered off outside so we kept him in and then I kept worrying that he had taken a turn for the worse in the night.  His breathing was not great but he was lethargic so didn't really stir all night.

When we got up John barred the cat flap which confused the hell out of the cats and we think poor Mr Boo probably wanted a wee but we couldn't risk letting him go.  We got him into the cat box and down to the vets in Argaka. We have only used Dr Bambos once before when we had to take Minnie last year.  He seems nice enough but his command of English is not as good as Dr Hans so he can come across as a bit dour - I think he is just struggling to find the right words.

He was very thorough - he seems to have all the equipment.  He did blood tests and an ultrasound.  Poor Boo had to have his belly shaved for the ultrasound and his neck shaved for the blood test and he was as good as gold.  The blood tests came back fine and the ultrasound didn't reveal anything sinister so Dr Bambos was of the opinion that it was probably Boris's teeth which, on close inspection, don't look great and you could see some inflammation around the gums.  Gingivitis is a big problem over here so the initial course of action was to give Boo an injection of long lasting anti-inflammatory and another of long-lasting antibiotic.  So €110 later and we were on our way home with a very subdued Boo in the cage.

Once home he just wanted to go out in the garden - he eventually got his pee and bless him no accidents on the way down and back nor in the vets.

We are now desperate to see him eat - it is not like him and he keeps running to the kitchen for food and then turning his nose up at everything including the Dreamies which normally he absolutely loves - maybe it is then that his teeth and gums are giving him gyp.

It was a very windy day today.  The coptic (a 2 day gale) appears to have arrived early so we had some battening down of the hatches to do.  On our return the waterproof cover to the Do-Jo had been blown off so that had to go back on.  We then went up onto the roof terrace to lash down the furniture that is up there and then we made the decision to take down our new sale which is outside the back door - that one is heavy duty and custom made so would probably have been ok but we didn't want to risk it.  Once we were happy everything was as safe as it could be we had some lunch.  I had some pastrami which had been knocking around in the fridge and so we had toasted sandwiches with that and brie and some of my home-made caramelised onion chutney.  This is now my favourite sandwich combo!

The remainder of our day was very quiet - we took advantage of the sunny conservatory and sat out there for most of the afternoon keeping an eye on Boris.  He had eaten a few treats and a small amount of pork mince which was better than nothing.  When the temperature began to dip we then went into the lounge and John lit the fire.  To say we were looking forward to our supper was an understatement.  We had the carry out from our meal with Liselotte and John last night.  In the picture was the lentil salad and the waldorf salad, the bright green superhot coriander and chili paste and an asian pomelo, peanut and coriander salad that I had found on tintyweb which was absolutely yummy and I will definitely make again whilst fresh pomelo are still available.

At the time of the photograph the potatoes and the lamb were in warming.   This food was just as amazing second time round so big big thanks to John and LL.
