We had a busy busy day today brought about by the opportunity to get my hair cut by the lovely Lumi who is recovering from an absolutely horrendous operation (by the sounds of it) to resolve her varicous vein issue which apparently came about because (a) she is on her feet all day and (b) it is genetic and something which her father has suffered from.
We took the opportunity to go to a whole load of places down in Paphos that we don't normally get the chance to do not least together. Our first stop was to check out the large Chinese supermarket which is down from the old Debenhams Roundabout. It is a right old treasure trove and has all sorts in it and it was gratifying to see lots of the local Chinese doing their shopping there. I have to admit there was a whole raft of products which I had absolutely no idea what they were. I am guessing that this is about authentic as it can get to buy Chinese ingredients over here and I am pleased to report that their sesame oil is very reasonable compared to the tiny bottles you get elsewhere.
Next stop was Lumi. It was an absolutely glorious day - look at the colour of the sky - and it was great to see her recovering and great to be able to get my hair tidied because it had gone past the stage where it was looking tidy.John waited outside in the sunshine and then we shot off to the Mall and then the new Superhome Centre to get a few bits and pieces. What a mistake - it must have been the official opening of the Store as there was some sort of civic reception and dignitories which meant that the carpark was chocker and ordinary shoppers had to run the gauntlet of the press and invitees and VIPs just to get a tin of paint!!! We managed, John was impressed by the shop but not the assault course to get there and we got the few things that we needed before making our way back home.
Once home I had a load of admin to do. First off I needed to send Jane a belated birthday present which was even more important as she has just tested positive for Covid so, knowing she is a lover of cheese and France, I ordered a camembert baker which I hope she will like.
I then had to steel myself to finalise my flight to the UK for my nephew's wedding - OMG so bloody expensive for five days but it is done but with only hand luggage it will be a challenge and so I also ordered a couple of dresses to be delivered to my sister which I hope will be suitable for the wedding but I have no idea what weather to expect so they may be a dreadful mistake!
Final job of the day was to make some fresh tomato and basil soup with the lovely tomatoes which Mum had given me. I love a good tomato soup so had planned that this was going to be our lunch tomorrow and it was smelling good!
And I don't know if our lovely friend Roger reads this but if he does then I know it was his birthday today and I want him to know that we were thinking of him and sending him love.
