These are the wild poppies that have set up home just outside the back door. They are beautiful, in the wrong place admittedly but they will be short lived and set seed which hopefully I can harvest and sew elsewhere. John is itching to pull them up but knows better than to do that!
It was a glorious day today unlike last Sunday when we had monsoon conditions so we were going down to pick up Mum and bring her to the Farmyard for lunch then take her back. This is now our new routine on a Sunday - either we pick her up or we take food down or go down and take her out. It's a change for us but we don't want her to feel isolated without the car.
We had lost an hours' sleep during the night because of the clock change so I was grateful for a nice quiet start to the morning without getting food ready. We set off around 11.00am to get Mum and by the time we got to Peyia I was beginning to regret my wardrobe choice!
We sorted out the few clocks that Mum cannot reach or cannot manage to change (the weather stations are always my job!) and then set off for Kathikas and our roast lunch. The Sunday Carvery at the Farmyard never disappoints - there was carrot and coriander soup with croutons or bread and butter and/or the salad bar. I had both the soup and the salad bar - only a little of each but I couldn't decide between them. There was roast beef, pork, lamb, gammon and turkey on offer with all the trimmings and then a selection of sweets including Mum's favourite bread and butter pudding. I don't know if Rachel and Savvas had the new pellet burner lit but it was a really comfortable warm temperature in there. Mum ate well and seemed to enjoy it and we took her back to our for a cup of tea before I drove her back home.
I know she would have liked me to stay with her for a bit but as it was I didn't get home and settled until 5pm - at least now though it is lighter later.
