Spending time with our lovely neighbours

A much better day today than yesterday but still with a strong and biting wind.  As I drove down to Mum's the sea was coming up and over the breakwater at Banana Bay and the waves were huge.  It is almost impossible to capture the ferocity.  Two brave tourists were taking in the view - it was still spectacular as the sea was an amazing colour but although they look relaxed they didn't stay too long because they were in danger of being blown away!

I had driven this way because I wanted to stop in Peyia at Olivers to see if I could buy some of the pate and onion relish that Mum and I had eaten at Carpe Diem the other week.  This meant I had to negotiate the diversion in Peyia which takes you all round the houses so I wasn't too happy when I parked up to see the shop wasn't open even though the sign on the door showed that it should have been and then next to it was another sign announcing that this shop had actually closed for good a week ago.  If Mum wants the pate and relish it means a trip to the last remaining shop in Tala which is in the wrong direction for any shopping we wanted to do today.

I picked up Mum and we went to the butchers (Naz using his charm on Mum and making her day), then Lidl, then Sklavantis and from their carpark I nipped to the bank to get some money for the forthcoming month.  From there we went to Mum's chemist and then back to hers for some lunch.

We spent an hour or so doing Mum's latest jigsaw.  She doesn't like this one so wanted to get it finished and out of the way before starting another one.  She said she was having real trouble with this one - not surprising as I found several pieces that were in the wrong place which was an easy mistake to make but once we got those swapped out the rest seemed fall into place but it does tickle me that I will give Mum a piece and tell her where it goes and she will try it in every position but the correct one!  Bless her!

I left Mum mid afternoon and shot over to Konia to see my friend Yola.  I had seen she was advertising a cushion for sale and it had a picture of a peacock on it and I thought it would be a lovely gift for Jan next door, particularly as she had been kind enough to invite John and I over for supper later today.  She and Derek work so hard that I had suggested going out but she was adamant that she wanted to cook.  Actually she had been round to see John whilst I has out to borrow bowls and a whisk and a rolling pin because hers are currently in transit on the high seas.

Anyway I got the cushion and had a quick chat with Yola and then nipped into Cycleband in search of some Chocolate before making my way back home.

John had been out on a bike ride and gone to meet up with the Bobster but was home and waiting for me as I turned the corner into the estate which was good because I had all sorts of bags of stuff in the car.

I had a quick shower and we fed the cats before going round next door for a lovely meal with Jan and Derek.  We had home made soup then a Mediterranean Chicken dish with mashed potato and vegetables and then a choice of apple pie or apple cake - all home made including the pastry which puts me to shame!

During the course of the evening both Charlie and Mr Boo knocked on the door and came on in.  First of all separately and then together.  At one point Mr Boo sat next to Derek but turned round and was mesmerised by the large TV screen behind and sat watching it for ages.  Charlie made himself at home on the sofa and eventually Boris fell asleep on the chair until it was time for us to go home.

It was a lovely evening, good food and good company and their woodburner kept us super warm as the temperature had really plummeted by the time we said goodnight.
