Trying out a new eatery

I have been working on my latest craft project and it is now finished save for getting a candle or something to go inside and illuminate the decoration.

I saw some nice remote control LED lights in Jumbos the other day and think I may get one of these because then there is a choice of colour which can come through the glass.

We did think we might call in there today but as it happens we were a bit later getting down to Paphos than we had planned and by the time we had called in to see Dip and Karen and had a coffee and a catch up the day was slipping away.

It's not a problem I can nip in one day when I go down to Mums as it isn't required for a few weeks' yet.

We had a slowish morning but made a list of all the things we wanted to get in SuperHome Centre so that I can give the kitchen a freshen up - hopefully before my cousin arrives in a month's time.

When we were tidying up yesterday, before we went out with Gail and Pete, John had come across his old Hallowe'en mask and decided he should get rid of it.  It is creepy and would scare the shit out of any poor child that knocked on our gate trick or treating!!!

I sent a picture of it to Gail with the caption "Tonight - Date Night"  I dare say she nearly spat into her cornflakes looking at that!

As it happens it has not been got rid of, it is still in the house and I reckon it will stay in the house for some time yet!  The jury is out...

So when we got our act together we shot off down to SuperHome Centre.  Thankfully it was not so chaotic as the last time we went when it was the official opening.

We managed to get some emulsion paint for a very reasonable price - generally paint over here is extortionate.  I wanted magnolia and that is what we got.  There isn't a huge amount to paint it is just a bit awkward and there is a lot of taping off to do so that I don't get it all over the kitchen units and work surfaces.

As I said we then went to catch up with Dip and Karen who arrived yesterday and who are coming up to visit us next week so that we can celebrate Karen's recent big birthday.

We came back home via Oasis in Peyia.  I hadn't been in there but John had called in with Pete and Rich one day a couple of weeks' ago and had been impressed.  It is situated in the old Laundry/Dry Cleaners at the bottom of the hill but is about as far removed from its previous existence that it could be - light bright and airy with an interesting menu.

This was my choice, a Croque Madame with coleslaw and fries.  It was delicious and looked so pretty with the edible flowers on top of the egg.  John had a club sandwich which he really enjoyed.  That was to be our main meal of the day so at 10 euros each not badly priced.  They didn't overcharge for the soft drinks either which a lot of places do.

The weather had deteriorated on our way home, it was raining in Peyia and then Kathikas but had not reached Droushia.  We caught up with Jan and Derek who are busy working on raising the wall so that they can move their garden gates forward.  They asked us in for a cuppa so we sat out in their courtyard keeping an eye on Charlie who looked to make their sandbag into his new toilet.  I managed to stop him in time.

We had a great tip from Nicky for a film to watch so decided to do exactly that this evening.  Rogue Agent - very good once we got the right stream - the first one we chose wasn't the right film it was some weird Hispanic film which John said we should watch because it might have been a hidden gem!
