May 1st an awful Bank Holday

This will be a brief post - today was a bank holiday for Labour Day so pretty much everything was shut.  We had big plans to do jobs in the house and the garden but after having had his breakfast when he was his lovely normal self Charlie suddenly became very very ill.  He began by being violently sick, then gasping for air, panting and breathing very rapidly almost exactly like Chivers had been on the day that he died.  We assumed that Charlie had ingested something toxic.  We rang the vet and he said to bring him down immediately - he was open as he had already had two dogs brought in with snake bites.  En route Charlie had the most terrible bout of diarrhea, like nothing we have ever seen or smelt before, it was like slimy snot and he was very distressed.  The vet took one look at him and told us it wasn't good.  He was immediately put on a drip and given an injection and taken away to stay in and we were to ring tomorrow after 9.00am for an update.  It felt like Chivers all over again.  John and I returned home very subdued.  We have everything crossed that Charlie is going to pull through.
