We left a lovely bright sunny Droushia this morning to go to Paphos to get the exhaust looked at on the Nissan Note. We got as far as Tsada where we could not see our hands in front of our faces. It was grey and muggy and the atmosphere was heavily laden with thick dust. Really very unpleasant and it went straight into my eyes making them itch.
Our first stop, before going to say our goodbye's to Dip, was at Kokos Exhaust place which is on the road opposite where the big statue of Makarios's head is located. He is nice man and would never rip you off so we were hopeful that it would be a quick little twenty euro welding job and off we would go but we were gutted when he got the car up on the ramp to see the damage that we think had been done when Mum managed to drive the front wheel off the drive so the car was presumably balanced on the exhaust thereby crushing the catalytic converters. We left there 400 euros worse off which was considerably more than we had expected.
Whilst the work was being done John had to go find the Alpha Bank to get out some cash and I want and had a look in Dimco to see if we could find a light fitting for the spare bedroom to fit over the mirror. The existing one is showing some worrying signs that the bulb has been getting overly hot so John has removed it but I will need something to replace it before Hazel is here.
We went to say our goodbyes to Dip and to have a coffee with him. We had hoped to pin him down to lunch but he was meeting up with one of his friends later for his last meal before flying tomorrow. We know it wont be too long before he and Karen are out again so whilst disappointing that we hadn't seen very much of either of them whilst they were here this time there will be another opportunity pretty soon.
We left Dip and quickly popped into Jumbos for a few bits and pieces. It was quite busy in there and they were having a move around but we got most of what we wanted. By this time I was beginning to nurture a massive headache - I think the atmospheric pressure of the weird weather was to blame.
We called home via Oasis in Peyia where we had a light lunch. I had chosen a really lovely fresh salad which included rocket, pomegranate, apple and parmesan cheese and it was delicious. John built his own sandwich which came with chips and coleslaw. Not the cheapest but really fresh and really nicely presented with nice staff and a clean and bright venue.
I had planned a nice early night and a good sleep - this was not to happen but more of that tomorrow.
