Bad Weather...

Oh my the weather today was appalling - at times it felt like the middle of winter.  We decided that we would go down to Paphos to try and find a replacement light fitting for the spare bedroom because the one I got in Leroy Merlin is nothing less than a fire waiting to happen.  Even with the correct bulbs in place it overheats and starts to melt the surround.  I would never feel happy with it.

The drive down to Paphos was like a scene from Gorillas in the Mist - low, low clouds and limited visibility.

At the moment I rarely get the opportunity to go shopping with John.  Today was not an ideal day, the Saturday in the middle of a long bank holiday weekend because John has to go to the bank and unsuspend his account (suspended due to inactivity) and quite a few shops close on a Saturday even now in the 21st Century!!!

We had a list of places to go - first stop the new Cycleband where they had just taken in a delivery and amongst it were cans of Old Speckled Hen which made John's day!  In Sklavenitis the French wine which he and Pete like so much was also on offer making it cheaper than anything else about that they like so we filled our trolley with that.  John never minds shopping, actually he really quite likes it and he liked it even more today when we managed to get most of what we needed and some extras because they were at a price where we just couldn't leave them!  What we didn't get was a new light fitting.  We found one in HomeMarket and asked an assistant to make sure that we got the correct sized bulbs but can you believe they didn't sell the right size so we didn't buy it.

Although we had our supper sorted for tonight we were feeling peckish after all our shopping so we stopped at a little kebab shop on the coast road which we have seen on several occasions.  We got a chicken gyros to keep us going and it was very nice.  So packed full of meat that we couldn't eat it on the go without getting covered so decided to sit and eat it looking at the sea at Banana Bay.

By this time the weather in Paphos had improved dramatically sadly this only reached as far as Lower Peyia, above that it was still grey and grim.  The sea was very choppy and some amazing colours.  We had hoped that the weather down in Polis might have been similar because our friends Carole and Paul arrived last night.

Back in Droushia it really was horrible, windy and rolling mists.  It did mean that I didn't have to water the garden but often the rain does not penetrate the pots sufficiently.  We battened down the hatches and settled indoors to watch the FA Cup final which saw Manchester City triumph over Manchester United in a game which featured a couple of spectacular goals for City.  Our neighbour Das will be delighted as he supports the Blues, our neighbour Lakis will be disappointed as he supports the Reds.

Supper this evening was a hunk of Naz's local fillet steak served with a mustard sauce (I had to improvise as I had no cream so used some cheese dip that was lurking in the fridge!).  We had salad, wedges and onion rings and it was delicious, really delicious.  The steak turned out better than I had thought it was going to when I was cooking it.

We watched the penultimate episode of Succession.  We have been disappointed by this series but will see it through to the end.  It seems to have sort of lost its way a bit.
