Everything is going wrong...

We have obviously sworn at a gypsy in the last few days because we have been beset with issues.  All seemingly going to be expensive ones on initial inspection.  The least of our worries is the ice machine that Jan kindly gave us even though we want to use it to produce a shed load of ice for Argy and Lakis on Saturday.  The bigger worries are the PV system where we seem to have an inverter that is not functioning properly and the pool.  What we cannot ascertain about the PV system is whether the information transmitted from the inverter to the monitoring system is at fault or whether it is not transforming the energy to the grid or both.  The trouble is that troubleshooting in the current heat is nigh on impossible.  John has contacted our supplier and we hope he will be able to come and take a look sooner rather than later.  The pool is a right headache.  It was fine when Hazel was here but something has happened and overnight we lost and inordinate amount of water which seemed to indicate that the problem lies with the skimmer.  John dug up where we had to repair a pipe previously and thankfully that shows no sign of leaking but if it is not the skimmer or not a part of the skimmer that is visible we will have to dig up a huge area of the garden to find the fault.  Not just the garden but the tiling around the skimmer.  It really doesn't bare thinking about.  John is on it bless him but he is stressed by it - we spent the morning trying to remove the skimmer fascia but this proved very difficult as one of the bolts refused to budge.  We don't think we can get a replacement fascia and top part of the skimmer and were shocked to find that there was no seal which might be responsible for some of the water loss and that a replacement one if we could get it would be 20 euros but, as it comes in a pack of two, actually 40 euros.   OUCH!  The trouble is that the original skimmer was put in over 20 years ago so things have changed a lot since then.

We met up with Lakis and Argy for a planning meeting regarding the upcoming anniversary party.  It will be fine - the weather now is the least of their worries, if anything it may even be too hot.  We will do some last minute shopping for them when we go to Polis tomorrow and hopefully everyone who has been invited and indicated they will come, will come.

We were kindly given a whole load of local plums today from Georgia's mum, the exotically named Maria Lottino, who also gave us some plum chutney which she had made and which was really lovely.  I stewed the plums in readiness to make a crumble or something for one Sunday as I think Mum would enjoy that.  Food for this Sunday has been sorted but the following weekend that might be an idea.

It had been quite a stressful day all in all and very hot so John said I was relieved from cooking duties even though I had taken some chicken out of the freezer - we could have that tomorrow.  We decided to mooch down to the House of Eleni in Inea for some souvlaki.  I had chicken and John had pork, with salad and no chips and it was lovely - it is a shame we cannot converse better with Achilles.  What we did understand was that one of the beers was a gift from him.

It was an amazingly beautiful evening to walk home one of the lovely few we get up in Droushia when there is no condensation.  We mooched back home and decided to have a little nightcap sat in the back garden which was just lovely.  I have to be up early tomorrow to get to the Doctors for 9.00am so as my best sleep seems to be around 6.00am until 8.00am I am going to have to set an alarm.
