Physio Session...

It is Friday, and this is my torture chamber for an hour.  I have started on my Physio with Dr Marios who John went to see with his knee.  Time was that Dr Marios was the only Physio in the area but this has changed and there is now a choice but everyone likes and rates him so that is where I was going.  Apparently Dr Marios tells me that I have six sessions then a return to see Dr Lykoudis and then three more sessions booked into the system.

He askes about my range of movement now after the operation and his is quite impressed that I am able to do most of the things he asks including getting my left hand behind my back which even I was surprised about.

He asks about pain and I tell him that I have very little pain in the region of the operation but that the original pain that drove me to see Dr Lykoudis in the first place is still there.  He asks me to indicate roughly where which I do and then he pressed his thumb in that area and I hit the ceiling - it is fair to say that he had found the exact spot.  Apparently he could see it as there is some swelling there so he explains that he will work on the original pain to try and alleviate it (praise the Lord) and give me exercises to strengthen my shoulder.

This all sounds marvellous and we start with me lying face down on the bed and he explains he is going to use a TENS machiine and I can have a little sleep whilst it is doing its stuff.  Little sleep my arse, it was so painful, like having a million needles jabbing me all of which were connected to some Franhenstein sized voltage. I was very glad when that stopped and he said he was going to do a bit of massage...shortly after he was scraping me off the ceiling as he had once again hit the spot and the pain was excruciating.  Painful as it was I was pleased to think that at long last it had been located and that hopefully Dr Marios and his pokey thumb were going to make it better.

The remainder of my session was some rather more gentle exercised involving firstly a stick (am I to become a Majorette I wonder?) a pulley, a ladder and finally a wheel.  All exercises I can recreate at home and do before my next session which is on Friday.

Lovely Gail from across the way had taken me and was waiting for me.  She has been through it all herself some time ago so knew roughly what I had been up to.  We decided to stop for a coffee at Venetico on the way home.  They have done some work to the outside space adding some additional terrace with seating, sadly the service has deteriorated.  We sat for ages before deciding to go to the counter to order and then waited for ages to get two frappe.  It is a shame because it is a nice place but we couldn't see either of our husbands waiting that amount of time to be served.
