Vive la France!

This is Guillaume.  Guillaume is from France.  When John went down to Polis this morning Guillaume was cycling up towards Droushia and when John returned from Polis Guillaume was pushing his bike up towards Droushia so John stopped and, as he had the bike carrier on the back of the car, offered to give Guillaume a lift.  John said that the bike weighed an absolutely tonne as it seemed to have all Guillaume's worldly goods hanging on and off of it.  Apparently Guillaume was cycling from France through Europe and on to Japan (like you do).  Let's just say I think Guillaume was very happy to have been given a bit of a lift on this particular part of the journey.  Good luck Guillaume - hope you make it.  I can't find anything on tintyweb about this guy, maybe he is someone famous - who knows?

We had been invited over to Nicky and Mark's today for coffee.  They have been really busy of late refurbishing their internal doors which were plain brown wood and which are now painted white with a routed pattern and look really good.  They have worked hard and that hard work has paid off.  They have also begun to tackle their outside space starting with some lovely furniture which is in the area inside the gates - it fits perfectly and is very comfortable.  They are contemplating the best way to achieve some shade - the umbrella is good but they would prefer something without an upright which can obscure the person sitting opposite you.  Anyway what it has reinforced is that small changes can have a big impact and spur you on to do more.

We had done a bit of a stock check on the contents of the freezer and tonight was earmarked for filled steak from Naz.  Although the pieces didn't look huge they do not shrink so what you see is what you get.  We were having it simple with hand made chips, peas, onion rings and my signature mustard sauce.

Here is the finished article which tasted every bit as good as it looked - the steaks from Naz never fail to impress and even though the price has increased quite considerably it is worth every penny.  This is why we rarely, if ever, order a steak out - we can have it at home, exactly as we want and for a fraction of the price.

The lovely day was rounded off with a film which we thoroughly enjoyed and which I have wanted to watch for quite some time.  The Bank of Dave - based on a true story with a touch of artistic licence but all in all a lovely feel good movie.
