Fish BBQ

Today we were having a barbeque at ours.  We had decided upon fish so John shot off to go and get three large fresh sea bream from the fishmongers - these cost €12 in total.

To go with the sea bream we were having prawn and halloumi kebabs, paprika wedges, dips and pitta bread and a Greek salad, coleslaw and a courgette salad with peanut sauce.

This isn't a difficult meal to prepare just a bit time-consuming with all the prep and John wanted me to make sure that the fish was just about as clean as it could be although we were leaving heads on for cooking - he was going to fillet once cooked because we knew that John's mum would be freaked out if presented with a whole fishy (on a little dishy!).

Our heatwave continues, although storms are forecast for early next week, so it is still nice in the pool - today it was holding steady at 27 degrees even though Stan did not believe us.  I had been in twice today and can confirm, being a bit of a wuss at times, that it was lovely (once you were in).

It looked like a scene from God's waiting room whilst the Clan dried off and took advantage of the sun.  We ate when they had changed.  The food seemed to go down well.  I had poached the sea bream in the microwave like I normally do and so that ensures it is moist and falls off the bone.  Even the cats benefitted from a few bits removed from the Tom and Jerry-like fish skeleton!

We said goodbye to Pam and George this evening.  They leave tomorrow morning and as we are off to Omodos we didn't want to miss the opportunity of wishing them a safe journey and hope that we will see them again next year.  Their six weeks have absolutely flown by.
