Our morning started with a trip to Jumbos so that the Clan could purchase their gifts for the present game which we will be playing on Sunday when, this year, we have a family Boxing Day which will (once someone has gone and picked up Mum) comprise a little walk (possibly to the cemetery so we can include Dad) then back to the house for Cornish Pasties and a nice cup of tea!
The Clan were instructed to go armed with 15 euros and purchase at least three presents to go in the sack - at which point Stanley broke out into a cold sweat as he doesn't do shopping and he was barred from doing shopping with Jackie to help him.
We all got round fairly quickly and successfully so then set off with a boot full of Jumbos purchases for our late lunch which was to be at Sentiero by the Sea
The food is good here - or at least we think so. John and I shared a grill platter for two as this was to be our only proper meal of the day. Janet and Jackie had different burgers and Stan a big old pork shop. We probably could have quite happily sat there all day but we had arranged to meet up with Gail and Pete and their visitors for a drink in the village at 6.30pm. This we had stupidly thought might have lead to a reasonably early night but how silly were we????
We decided to get a table under the lemon tree in Finikas so we could sit comfortably together. Gail has her daughter Paige and grandson Carter staying with Paige's best friend Niko (he has Cypriot family connections). It was purely a drinks evening until Carter said he fancied some chips and then two plates of Marina's legendary hand cut chips appeared and we just felt obliged to dig in.
The only other people in the garden were a gentleman and his daughter. The man kept looking at John and then asked if he was John Wiseman because he recognised him from our We Love Drouseia group on Facebook. The lovely gentleman as Nicholas Joachim, now living in the UK but originally from Drouseia. He says he keeps up to date with what is going on in his village by reading our posts. What a lovely man.
