The 23 Hit Jumbo

Today we introduced the Cyprus 23 to the wonders of Jumbo because we were having a day when we were going back to our youth and embracing fancy dress and silly games.

Le Sac Magique was their equivalent to our Present Game only played slightly differently and we had agreed that we would spend no more than 15 Euros getting a minimum of three gifts which could be anything, good, bad or ugly!!!  Tommy was victorious in achieving his purchases in a record time shortly followed by John and then me.  Sally followed shortly thereafter and Frank and Cheryl brought up the rear, together, which was not quite in the spirit of keeping things secret but they wanted to buy other things for themselves and after all it was just meant to be a laugh!

We had a bit of a wander around the rest of the Mall before setting off for a leisurely lunch at Sentiero.  This venue afforded us a nice little drive along the coast, I had the girlies and John the boys.

I actually wondered if John would remember exactly where Sentiero was located but they pitched up in the car park very shortly after we did.

Sentiero proved to be a popular choice.  It is a lovely venue and the menu is varied and not a bad price and we had a nice long table in the shade where we were able to sit and chat and eat and drink for as long as we wanted.  Some wandered off to take in the stunning view of the Sea Caves.  The food was good, the ambiance lovely - as I said a great choice.

Our next port of call was to St George's Bay where we hoped to catch a glimpse of one of the turtles.  Our initial walk along the harbour was fruitless so we decamped under the shade of the beach bar and then out of the corner of my eye I saw the unmistakable shape of a Turtle popping its head up out of the water.  I quickly notified the troops and we made our way back to the boats where, sure enough, one of the extra large Turtles was feeding on a scrap of fish (initially we thought it was a plastic bag but were relieved to see it wasn't).  Tommy went in and was lucky enough to swim with his namesake!  It was all very exciting and worth hanging around for.

We ended the evening at the Corner House where I was introduced to a new card game called 'Shithead' which I needed to learn as it was to be integral to the order in which we would change into our Fancy Dress on Monday at the 'Grand Celebration'

Shithead, drinks and nibbles stretched out into the next morning before John and I took the short walk home accompanied by an acrobatic display of some pretty huge fruit bats.  We have never seen so many so close there before - they must be after the figs.
