The first morning at the Corner House and we are enjoying the lovely courtyard garden. It is a lovely start to the day which was deemed to be 'at leisure' in order that the 23 could recharge their batteries after travelling. I had been to Emba to take Mum shopping and then joined them as they tried to decide what to do with the remainder of the day.
We had a whistlestop tour of Polis and Latchi starting with the Da Vinci Ice-Cream Parlour in Prodromi which everyone agreed was absolutely delicious - in fact this initial visit has started a trend for the holibobbers as they organise their excursions to incorporate a Da Vinci establishment! We realise that we see our corner of the island differently when visitors are with us - that is a good thing - we do not then take where we are for granted!
The beach bar at Polis Camp Site proved popular too - I think this will be frequented again for sure - the bar is cheaper than most places and has an eclectic clientele and there are plenty of sunbeds and the beach seems to
be sandier than further up towards Latchi so that's all good plus you can get something to eat there although I cannot vouch for the food myself.
We then took them for a wander along Latchi harbour where they were impressed by the decor at the Restomare Restaurant with all the hanging metal fish skeletons. Sally runs Sally's Fish Camp providing lobster and oysters and other fishy goodies to the paying public so she is particularly interested in what the island has to offer. I told her that sadly she probably wouldn't find a great deal to be excited about as the seas around the island have been over-fished and so a lot of stuff is imported.
Back home we went up for afternoon drinkies on the roof terrace. The beauty about us all being here together in the village is that no-one needs to drive so we can socialise together without any worries. We have lent them KTE (the Note) so they are free to travel around if they want. As we explained we still have 'stuff' to do (not being on holiday ourselves) so whilst we want to spend as much time with them as possible there are still normal living things we need to do.
Sorry about the quality of the picture. We rounded off the day with a meal at Kaponas where the lovely Eleni had cooked fish for two of us (which is not normally on the menu but she is happy to try and accommodate whatever people want). It was a lovely chilled evening and possibly the only one where we went to bed on the same day as we got up - although thinking about it that might have been yesterday - it is all a bit sketchy to say the least. What I do know is that I am going to take the small break between the 23's departure and JJ&S's arrival for a bit of a detox!
