The 23 Arrive...

So on one day we said goodbye to family and on the next we were preparing for the arrival of the Cyprus 23 - all four of them!  Sally and Tommy and Frank and Cheryl were arriving today for what was bound to be a bonkersly hectic week catching up, reminiscing and celebrating milestones missed through separation.  The 23 were staying at the Corner House (where JJ&S stay) and we went in this morning to stock it up with booze, more booze and some essentials like booze!  It was a beautiful morning, glorious sunshine and the Corner House Garden looked very inviting.  As I am writing this retrospectively I think it is fair to say that I had actually underestimated quite what a bonkers time we were going to have.

After an initial delay the flight made up time and there was a good 20 minutes between the previous flight and the next flight so their bags came through quickly which is a huge difference to last week when there were so many terrible delays and cancellations.  We actually parked up and went into the arrivals building rather than hovering around the periphery waiting for a phone call to say they had arrived and found their bags.

I took the girlies home, John took Frank and Tom and we got back to the Corner House in reasonable time for them to settle in and crack open the wine.  We talked for hours before John and I called it a night and wandered back home.  We had decided to leave them with a leisurely morning so that I could still take Mum shopping and we had arranged to catch up with them later in the day.

We all talked and acted like we did 25+ years ago but the photographs tell a different story, somehow Sal, Cheryl and I are all married to greying old gits!
