When Les Amis was in Kato Paphos it was a bit of a hidden gem located on a rather uninspiring side street off of the main drag. Its saving grace however was a marvelous menu where a three course dinner was around 15 euros. This was before covid though! Still the various reports I had seen were promising and with a shady garden and kids play area it seemed suitable for the 4 generations who would be sat around the table.
It was a very hot day, John and I set off so as to be in situ when the others arrived and we were seated at a table in the garden in the shade with two super efficient fans blasting cool air in our direction, maybe too efficient for mum's liking but I was pleased.
So it was all going swimmingly and John positioned himself outside in the heat to direct Andy into the establishment's carpark which would ensure mum didn't have to walk too far. Mum however had different ideas and ignored John's frantic signalling and directed them to a carpark just west of Nicosia! John eventually got them sorted and we settled down for lunch...
Anyone expecting the new Les Amis to be a carbon copy of the old Les Amis with a reasonably priced three course option is going to be sadly disappointed. My dad would have had nose bleed to read that a meze would cost nearly 30 euros per person! I have to be honest I choked on my lime and soda!
We had a rather underwhelming meal unfortunately. The astronomically inflated prices did not reflect an elevated standard of cuisine but it was good to be together and Jack (in his new Loony Tunes ensemble) enjoyed his burger and exploring the play area.
