The day after Boxing Day

After an action packed and fun filled Boxing Day we were all a bit tired. Fortunately the wet weather had subsided and today was bright and breezy but cool.  We were having a day at home as the Clan were going down to Polis and then we were meeting up to eat.

I was very excited to find that my Raspberry bush had produced its first lot of fruit.  This is a Golden Raspberry so the fruit has a sort of pale pinky-orange colour and they are full of flavour.  Sadly this was the sum total of my crop but the plant only went in this year and I am not sure it is in the right place as it got a bit burned by the sun.  Hopefully next year it will go from strength to strength.

I don't grow much that is edible in the garden but Marianne did give me some tomato plants and a couple of them survived and I have a small crop of tomatoes ripening nicely in a bowl.  They are supposed to be a dark coloured variety but they are starting to split so I have picked them early and hope they will develop some flavour indoors.

We were eating out at Mezyn this evening.  Unfortunately the weather was a bit chilly so we started off under cover but outside then moved inside to make sure our food would remain warm when served plus the feral children from next door were a bit of a distraction as they were messing about where the tables are usually laid out even though Zoe kept asking them to go away which lasted until her back was turned.

I guess with no tables this space provides the perfect playground for kids but not when you are trying to have a conversation and eat.  We got a good view of the sunset before moving inside and actually we were more comfortable in there.

Jackie and I did the pick and mix option of lots of starters with a yummy salad, Janet had chicken and both John and Stan had mixed grills.  We all enjoyed our food and returned to Villa 10B for a night-cap before the Clan returned to the Corner House.
