When we did get up proper we were a bit lost for days so it felt like Saturday.
John's current project is to give the carport a face-lift and replace the terracotta tiles on the roof which are too heavy. Today we were on wood staining. This always reminds me of Dad because when we first moved here we had lots of wood projects which required lots of wood being treated and Dad would always come up and help out.
It was a bright and blustery day and so in the afternoon we decided to take a trip down to Sterna winery to stock up in readiness for Kaye's visit and Christmas thereafter.Jan and Derek had given us some money so we decided to use it for that. We were actually able to sit outside so we grabbed a small cheese and meat platter, a bottle of wine and a stopper to transport the excess home as November always seems to be a busy time for the Police. Indeed two of our speeding tickets have been issued in November and that we could do without!
On the subject of my sister's visit I have warned her that Winter has arrived and might temperatures are down to singke figures. I shall be putting an electric blanket into her bed tomorrow just in case.
I tried a new recipe for our supper. Spiced chicken thighs (boneless and skinless) with lime and honey which I served with hasselback potatoes. It was really nice and so we will have the remainder tomorrow.
Weariness set in quite quickly after supper. It was blowing an absolute gale outside so we decided an early night was in order. I have a day of cooking tomorrow as we are taking food down to Mum on Sunday.
