The weather was forecast to be stormy today and it wasn't wrong - we had layers of dark skies and clouds and had decided to err on the side of caution and go down to Paphos where the weather was likely to be better. It is Laura's last full day with us. She was wanting to go shopping in the Mall!
We had barely gotten onto the main road when the weather improved. We are always prepared for changeable weather in November but always hope that when we have a visitor it will be kind. It has been more than kind and Laura has appreciated getting a bit of sunshine before she returns to a lovely UK winter!
We decided to go to the Old Town before the Mall - we like the renovations that have been carried out and we had a lovely wander around before settling down in one of the little cafes to have a drink before doing battle in the Mall. November 14th and we are in short and t-shirts and sitting outside. Not unusual for Cyprus for sure but sometimes we need to remind ourselves how lucky we are. The climate and the ability to be able to be outside in the warmth and fresh air is such a bonus.
Laura was eventually let loose in Jumbos - my guess is that husband Mark was shaking in his wellies at the thought of her perusing the thousands of Christmas decorations without anyone offering a voice of reason. Apparently where they currently live she has the house bedecked with thousands of fairy lights - enough to make the traffic stop!!!! Laura is concentrating on a red and white candy cane theme this year and Jumbos duly obliged!!!!John picked up his specs today - he is trying to be good and get used to them. He has varifocals straight off!!!! He has always worn sunglasses and more recently those off the shelf specs for close work but sadly his arms are no longer long enough so at his last eye test he was told by our optician George that he could put the inevitable off no longer.
I think John looks nice in glasses, I have pulled his leg mercilessly today aided and abetted by my lovely friend Laura but actually, secretly, I like it!!! He has Timberland frames - I think he feels better for having a 'named' brand although he isn't generally bothered by brand names.
Anyway we returned home from our shopping trip and I made us some supper - we were on salad with some local halloumi. We called into the halloumi factory and ordered some freshly made to be picked up tomorrow so Laura can take it home with her.
I made a faux pas of tucking into a freshly baked hasselback spud which was nuclear hot and burned the roof of my mouth. At this point I had yet to realise quite how badly.
