A run out

Today we decided to take a run out to the Garden Centre because the trough which is part of Dad's grave has perished in the sun so I wanted to get a new one and plant it up with something which might survive over the winter.  We couldn't grab a coffee there unfortunately because on a Monday the cafe is closed.  The main polytunnel was getting ready for Christmas as it was full to bursting with beautifully coloured poinsettias.

We managed to find a replacement white trough and to go in it I had chosen two Carissa which is an evergreen plant with a jasmine like flower - Carissa Macrocarpa is a shrub native to tropical and southern Africa.  It is commonly known as the Natal Plum as the fruits it produce are large, egg-shaped and pinky purple.  The fruits are edible and can be made into jam.  There used to be several of these outside the place where we played pickleball.  They seemed to get little attention throughout the year save for an annual winter haircut.  We decided that it would look better with some ornamental stones on top of the compost and should deter any cemetery cats from using the trough as a toilet!

As we were relatively close by we decided to carry on up the coast to Koula's Sandwich spot which is stunning and surprisingly not a place we have been with Laura previously.  We managed to get a table right by the edge so we got a lovely view of the sea.

Although we had planned to eat out later today we decided that we would share a sandwich and some chips along with our cold drink.  Laura was absolutely amazed (a) by the size of our halloumi sandwich and (b) by the price.

It was lovely sitting there in pleasant sunshine and with an amazing view and some pretty amazing food.  All John needed was his old Mucker Mark and it would have been perfect.

We made a slow journey back home taking in the scenery and picked up a few bits and pieces in Paps and then we chilled out for a while before getting ready to go out to eat AGAIN!!!

Laura is such easy company although she reckons she is a fussy eater - she is no more fussy than any of the other fussy eaters we have come and visit and she has been often enough now that she doesn't need to be entertained although she does like to visit new places.  She has had a really tough time at work recently so wanted to use these few days to recharge her batteries and prepare herself for whatever gets thrown at her on her return.  I think so far we have fulfilled the brief - at least I hope so.

Our evening meal was at Mezyn which was a good choice because Laura likes a 'picky' tea and here we could choose a number of small dishes meze or tapas style.  We had a salad, two dips, halloumi, courgette fritters and courgette and eggs.  It was lovely but far too much!!!

Another lovely day - tomorrow the weather is tipped to be stormy so we are going to the Mall shopping and then Wednesday she goes home 😢😢😢
