Lovely Laura is Here

We try not to take for granted the weather here at this time of year.  We were thrilled that it was bright sunny and warm so that we could have breakfast outside.  We left Laura to sleep in and get up when she was ready.  It is lovely to have her here - we have so much history.  We met about 15 years ago when we became their neighbours in married quarters in Yeovil.  Laura appeared one day jumping out of her vehicle in jodhpurs and then emerging from the house in her nurses uniform - John thought all his birthdays had come at once!!!  We have a million stories shared and a million laughs that went with them.

We decided to go out and enjoy the sunshine in the afternoon, parking up at the camp site in Polis and walking to the harbour in Latchi.  It was lovely and warm and Laura said it was about the first bit of sunshine she had felt all year - the weather has been so bad this year in the UK.

We decided to join the cafe culture set and go to Noma for a drink.  John had coffee, I had a mojito and Laura a Porn Star Martini.  Having seen pictures of her asleep three sheets to the wind at one of the Indian restaurants in Yeovil when she had had a cocktail or two before eating I wondered if I should be worried.  This will be added to our existing 'stories' to be trolled out on numerous occasions.

I was cooking this evening - using the prawns which we had purchased from MAS the other day.  I had to remove the shells and in so doing I discovered that I am allergic to this process.  Apparently you can be allergic to the mucus which is between the shell and the body but this isn't a problem once they are cooked.  In future if I have to clean raw prawns I will need to wear gloves as my hands were covered in itchy spots and were burning by the time I had finished.  To be on the safe side I took an anti histamine and took an extra PPI tablet but still I had chronic heartburn in the night.

I made prawn linguine with mozarella and cherry tomatoes and was thrilled that Laura dived in for seconds.  It had been a lovely day and we settled down for a full on Strictly catch up - not for us but for Laura.
