I wanted to go to my exercise class today, to be fair I have been with Kaye to see Mum every day apart from Friday so that is actually more than I usually do so whilst she comes to see Mum it just makes things doubly busy for me. I actually feel exhausted! So I arranged that I would drop Kaye and John off at the Souli (sadly now closed for the season) and they would go for a walk whilst I went off to Neo Chorio for my exercise class.
We seem to have had visitors nearly all year which is lovely but all the regular meals and eating out has a very detrimental effect on my waistline plus I haven't been doing any regular exercise to counteract the calories I am beginning to feel very porky, unfit and dowdy! I have my hopes pinned on this seated 'yoga' being my saviour. I am doing ok but now have a problem with my other shoulder which gives me a problem plus I still have a trapped nerve in back/bum so periodically the front of my left thigh feels like it is on fire and someone is squeezing it in a vice.
I did my class - it is good fun and far harder than it looks. The people are beginning to get a bit more chatty - a lot of them know one another already as they are all from Neo Chorio and I have Sonia to speak to and her friend Vivian engages me in conversation. I drove back to the harbour at Latchi and met up with Kaye and John who were having a coffee at the new Harbour Cafe which looked very nice.
Kaye and I went to see Mum for a couple of hours - we took her to Sapphire for a 'cuppa' which was a bit of a trial because they didn't have cake (for Mum the 'diabetic) and I would never expect her to want to go somewhere for cake although we have noticed her appetite has improved recently. I think she is so terrified of upsetting Kaye that she has just eaten everything she has been given - whatever the reason it is good to see her eat a reasonable meal. Next time I take her out I will walk down past Sapphire and go into the newly opened branch of Arabicca because I could see cake including lemon drizzle on offer there.
This evening we had arranged to go to Finikas in Polis for a spot of fine dining. Kaye was paying for us as a thank you for having her. She had not been there before so was really impressed by the ambiance, the friendly staff and the amazing food.
We were not disappointed by our evening. We haven't been so often this year simply because here, like everywhere else, the prices have increased. Finikas has become our place to go for a special occasion so we normally eat here on The Clan's last night and we came to celebrate George and Pam's wedding anniversary with them.
I hope that Kaye's visit has been a successful one as far as Mum is concerned. Kaye plans to return in May for Mum's birthday all things being well. This may be part of a holiday with friends so maybe I might just get a little respite - I can but hope!
