My sister has been so lucky with the weather - she is leaving today and there is a big change from the lovely sunshine. Storms are forecast and this morning we could hear thunder rattling around and generally if there is a thunder storm we get a power cut so we were mindful that we needed to shower before leaving for the airport and for that to be completed successfully we needed to have power!!!
We had originally planned to go down to Peyia to have a big old fry-up (or belly buster as John calls it) but Haris's is closed for the season and we don't really know anywhere else en route to try so I decided to do the breakfast myself. We had everything including mushrooms) although not for John obviously!!! The sausages we normally buy in Paps were not available fresh - they were in the freezer section but the price had doubled so we decided not to go for them and John found some massive 'English' sausages in the chiller cabinet near the meat counter. I have to say I was a bit dubious about them being ok and not having that distinctive 'flavour' that non-English English sausages seem to have over here but I shouldn't have worried - they were meaty, beaty, big and bouncy (thank you The Who) and we shall definitely be buying again.
We had to dodge the storms to get to the car and drive down to Emba so Kaye could say goodbye to Mum which is always a rather sad occasion because neither can be sure that they will see one another again although Kaye does plan to return for Mum's birthday next year. We timed it so that we had enough time with Mum to say goodbyes but not so long that it all got a bit emotional. I had promised to go tomorrow to take Mum shopping with Lilian so she had something to look forward to.
The weather was not so bad down on the coast but significantly cooler than it has been. Kaye's flight was on time thankfully and we dropped her off at the airport without any issue. Five hours later she was able to text us to say she had returned home safe and sound.
