Today has been Roger's 70th Birthday Party - his birthday being 10th March.
For those of you who dont know John and I met Roger and Joani through the Soroptimists. We have spent some really fun times together (who can forget Guernsey when the Stansells stayed somewhere posh and John and I were in the Christian Retreat with the farting vicar?). Roger and Joani have rescued John from the clutches of the RN on several occasions. Joani's roast lamb is legendary and they are just two of the kindest people you could ever wish to meet. If I didnt have a Dad then I would choose Roger as a surrogate. I cant say the same about Joani being my mum - she is only a couple of years older than me!!
It has been a beautiful day both in terms of the weather - which has been kind and unseasonably warm - and the company.
Having thought we had so much time this morning getting prepared we seemed to be rushing around at the last minute - Joani barely had time to shower!! I am guessing we will all collapse in a big heap later exhausted. I am pleased to say that a good night's sleep and some soluble Neurofen this morning has left me feeling much much better. Still not to bothered about food or alcohol - just pleased that I was able to enjoy the day.
The celebrations started at 3.00pm and even though there was enough food here to feed an army, visitors also came laden with all sorts of goodies. There was just so much to chose from and every dietary requirement had been catered for - except we had no goats milk - bugger!!
Those of us who are or were Soroptimists just couldn't help ourselves when it came to washing up so hopefully a little later when the last few have gone home Joani and Roger wont be faced with a mammoth clearing up task. John was in his element in charge of the bar and I became trolley dolly for the afternoon so hopefully all the guests will have felt they were well fed and watered.
Will close now and post some of the photographs up when I have a minute to download them.
