It is true what they say - when you give up work you wonder how you ever found time to do it in the first place!
John and I have spent the day getting ready for the Shippers. I have cleaned things that I would never had thought even needed cleaning - but never having had an MOD inspection before we cant be too careful.
I feel rather sad to have evicted all those spiders who have shared the last four and a half years with us undisturbed but their time was up and they had to go. We have the cleanest outhouses this side of Timbuktu - honestly you could eat off of the floor in there - I hope it doesnt go unnoticed.
We cleaned, tidied and sorted from 9.00 until about 4.00 but think we have now broken the back of it and managed to get rid of one or two more things just in case the container isnt the Tardis that John is expecting.
This afternoon we removed the shower screen and replaced it with a shower curtain which is what is expected. I hadn't realised just how horrible shower curtains are - when we clocked off at 4.00 and I went for a shower I ended up with the curtain all clingy and wrapping itself round me - I just could not have put up with that every morning.
This evening we nipped across to Bridgwater to have tea with John and Sue. It was so kind of her to cook bearing in mind how difficult things have become whilst they are trying to sort out her rheumatoid arthritis. As always we had a lovely evening but I ended up eating far too much and feeling very very uncomfortable! Hopefully they will be able to come over to the Bull on 28th otherwise it may be a while before we get to see them again.
On the way home we called in to see Vicki and Trev as Vicki had a package she wanted to give to us before the shippers come in on Wednesday. It was good to see them and we were surprised that Trev was home in the week. We didnt stay long as my first day of retirement has left me exhausted!!
On our return we found a lovely card from our nextdoor neighbours Simon and Nicky wishing us all the best for the future. They have been brilliant - in fact we rarely know that they are there except occasionally we can hear Nicky playing the piano - and she is good so that is never an issue.
