17 Days to Go...

Another day ticked off, my last Wednesday at work over and done with.

John got up this morning ready to do battle.  We had treated ourselves to a new mattress to take to Cyprus - John calls it tempura (I think that is some kind of batter!!) but it has a memory-foam top layer which the woman in the shop said would be fantastic as it moulds round you and keeps you warm - keeps you warm????? like I need that at the moment - still it may save on heating bills.  Anyway we only agreed to purchase the mattress because the shop guaranteed that it would be delivered to us today because next Wednesday would be too late as the shippers will be here doing their thing.  Yesterday the shop were uncertain about whether it would be with us - you can imagine how unimpressed John was!  He needn't have worried because as promised the mattress arrived today earlier than the shop had anticipated so John's blood pressure calmed down.

Have already made my first arrangement to meet up with someone from work over in Cyprus.  Bev Rockliff (one of the partners) is going over to Paphos with her husband in September and so I have checked out where her hotel is and will make sure that John and I are around to go down and raise a glass with them both.

Big night tonight, the final league game of the crib season and we are playing at home.  There is no two ways about it - a four nil win will seal our victory without having to wait and see what the second place team does anything else and we will be on tenderhooks until we can find out their score - either way we have a trophy to collect - winners or runners up - I know which one we would prefer.

We are planning to have a couple of drinks after the game which will be our opportunity to say goodbye to the members of the crib team.  Depending on how things go the update post later could be a bit sketchy!!

...we won 3-1 tonight - is it enough? only time will tell...
