It will be a short post tonight because I am about ready for my bed. I have left John around at Mark and Laura's. I dare say Laura will be heading for bed too and John and Mark will set the world to rights over a large bottle (or two) of Barnstormer cider.
It has been a lovely day today... John let me have a lie-in this morning allowing me to starfish on my own. I haven't been sleeping well recently, a combination of anxiety and hormones. My internal radiator switches to overdrive at about 10.00 every night and I suffer with duvet off, duvet on, duvet off, duvet on...
I got up to the smell of bacon and we sat around having coffee and bacon baps before going to tackle the garden for its final tidy. The weather today was glorious so it was no hardship to be outdoors. I was busy doing the edges when Trev called round to show us his new car - a very nice black Honda CRV (new shape) which he has got to replace his Civic. We knew at Christmas with all that snow that it would only be a matter of time before he returned to four wheel drive. We approve of his choice though, it is a very nice car.
Trev and John went off to the Bookies as it was Grand National day today. We should have taken heed of Trevor's choice - last year he backed the winner and we went out on the proceeds - this year he managed to do the same, putting his money on Ballabriggs. John's choice came in a valiant second but unfortunately he had backed it to win!
We went round to Laura and Mark's to watch the National. Today was Laura's birthday and Mark had romantically taken her off to see sheep lambing and, when he went to get her flowers today, John asked him to get me some as well because I had had a horrid week. Laura LOVED the lambing - what a great thing to do for your birthday if that is what you are interested in!
John and I had bought Laura a Radley Umbrella for her birthday - we know that she LOVES all things Radley and I had chosen one where he is a captain on a boat as I thought that would be quite topical. I hope for her sake that she wont need to use it until the Autumn and that they have a glorious summer of unbroken sunshine.
The final nail was put in Sheffield United's coffin today as they slumped to the bottom of the Championship - the only route left for John now is to leave the country - just as well as that is exactly what he is doing!!!
This evening John and I went with Laura and Mark to the New Farm Restaurant at Over Stratton for a birthday meal - somewhere that John and I went to many years ago. We had a lovely evening but it was a real shame that we were the only ones in for a meal.
I drove and have just had a couple of large ports round at Laura and Mark's - I am now ready for bed so have left John there - which is where this blog started!!!
I expect him to come home later slightly socially confused!!!
