24 Days to Go...

What a bugger of a day at work today.  I was supposed to be going to Exeter to have a farewell lunch with some of the IT Managers from solicitor firms in the South West but had to forego that as Gemma is off poorly.  Just as well because a 'straightforward' software upgrade done last night ended up with about quarter of the staff unable to work properly.  It took nearly all day to get everyone up and running properly so my plans for the day went out the window.

John's day was a little more productive,  he attacked the cooker for the third day running - he is getting used to sticking his head in the oven!!  Still he has done sterling work and it is about as clean as it is ever going to be save for the inside being sandblasted - it just needs a final wipe down and it is ready to hand back.

Another plus was that finally the grass seed John put down to cover the bald patch where the shed had been has germinated - patchy but I am sure it will all join up and if the weather continues to be warm like it has been we will need to cut it before long!  That could be a problem as the blade on the mower broke today!  We are going to borrow back our old petrol one from Trev to finish the grass ready for handover.

We are itching to get things boxed up and ready but as the shippers have to do an inventory we have been advised to leave it to them - still doesnt stop us trying to get ahead of the game!

This evening was our penultimate Crib match of the season and our last match away from home at the Nags Head Martock who have been a bit of a bogey side for us in the past.  The position is that we are top of the table with the same points as second but better 'goal difference'.  We need to win the two remaining games 4-0 to win without having to worry about the second place side.  Apparently, according to our captain Ash we haven't lost away from home all season which is unheard of and we didnt let him down tonight as each of our three pairings won their respective games giving us a 4-0 victory so we are still top of the league irrespective of what anyone else does.  Crunch game next week, the last game which is at home and will be followed by one or two sherberts afterwards to celebrate the end of the season and hopefully a first place.
