Blimey how the numbers are getting smaller now! Only one more Monday and one more Tuesday at work.
I have spent today training a new member of staff - I dont mind but the training room has no natural light and air conditioning which leaves you feeling washed out. I dont seem to have shifted the cold I had either as last night I was kept awake with a really really sore throat again.
Had an update from SF today as he had been up to Droushia today to supervise the pool-man. We now have a pump and a timer that functions correctly which is great because it meant that SF could set things to automatic and wont have to go up so regularly. Below is a photograph of how the pool looks now - SF still thinks it is a little 'milky' but he has added some floculant(?) which gathers all the crap together and makes sure it isnt too small to pass straight through the filters, thus resulting in a crystal clear and sparkling pool.
Today John had a chit for a couple of hours R&R (a green pass apparently). It is our friend Frank's
70th birthday on the 6th but for a number of reasons there was a small celebration for him today at the Standard. When John went to the Standard originally Frank was the first person to make him feel really welcome and asked John to join him on his table (the 'top' table). Many people find the Standard like the pub in American Werewolf in London - you go in as a stranger and everyone stops and stares at you!! We never had that problem because Frank always spoke to us and made sure we were included in what was going on. We put together a small 'hamper' of goodies for Frank and he was really touched. It is quite humbling that a small gesture like that can have such a large impact on someone.
Not much else to report except the story of my Mum's mother's day card - I got a card for my mum and one for John's mum. I had a stamp so was able to post John's mum's card no problem. I couldn't get to the post office so I put my Mum's card in the internal post at work with a little post-it note on it which said "can you tell me how much please? Jill" If I cant get to the Post Office I sometimes do that and then repay the cost when I know how much it has been. Well apparently my card just got put in the post without any stamp or franking and still with my little yellow post-it note attached because when it arrived at Mum's some two thousand plus miles later it had no postage no excess charges but still had my little post-it note!! Mum was so tickled by it - bloody good quality post-it note - that is all I can say!!
