27 Days to Go...

It must be Sunday as you will notice that our photograph has changed.  This one is a real blast from the past and I would like to think that both John and I have lost a bit of weight in the intervening years!

The first thing I have to mention is that Yeovil Town got beaten by Bristol Rovers 1-0 yesterday.  Frank has been quick to point out that this was the last local derby before we leave and, being a Gas Boy through and through, he just had to drive home the fact that Yeovil lost.   Nevertheless I think that Yeovil are safe enough to think about enjoying League 1 football again next season unfortunately the same cannot be said for Bristol Rovers who are currently down in the relegation zone - all joking aside I hope for Frank's sake that they manage to avoid the drop.

We had a call from Dad first thing - he had been kind enough to go back and have a good look at the twin cab he had seen.  Unfortunately it was a little older and with rather more miles on the clock than we really wanted so for this time it was a no-go but something suitable will turn up.  Mum sounds really excited about her new car which she will pick up shortly.  She is getting a Nissan Note - not a model I am particularly familiar with but having looked it up on the Net it really looks a great little car and exactly what she will need for bombing around Paphos (God help the locals!!! - only kidding!!!).

It is Mother's Day today and not being a mother and not having either of our mothers nearby it isnt a special day for us so we got up late and I decided that I really ought to have another go at the MOD cooker which has to be returned in show room condition although I doubt the only time it has ever been like that was the day it left the show room originally.  I dont think it is going to pass muster so I got the steamer out today and started attacking it with that.  John now has another little job to add to his list for the week.

You will be pleased to know that the Wiseman household ate again this Sunday because for the second week running John was successful at the meat draw and selected the turkey breast once again so that I could poach it as I had done last week. I think it was even more successful this week - beautifully succulent.  If anyone is interested the recipe can be found here:

I served it hot with carrot batons, mange-tout peas and new potatoes which had been roasted with bacon, onion, garlic and oregano.

Only two weeks left at work now - just off to iron something to wear tomorrow - deep joy.

Just before I go I thought you might like to see the photograph below showing the group of us who went out for a meal at the Green Room a couple of weeks ago.  Thanks to Catherine for tagging it on Facebook.  From the left you can see Steven, Ben, Catherine, Michele, Me and John.  It was a great evening but unfortunately Catherine was under the weather recovering from a bug and had to go home shortly afterwards.
