Weekends - make amends!! Lie in day today - yip yip!
TLH and SF in 2005 |
Today is SF and TLH's 56th Wedding anniversary - the picture above shows them celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary and to be honest I don't think they look a day older now although I am worried that all the work they are doing for John and I is going to wear them out.
Today they have been celebrating by going up to Droushia to supervise the pool-man who was sorting out the pump that had died and to do some weeding. Unfortunately it was piddling down up there so they were confined to barracks and with no TV, radio, proper heating, kitchen, kettle (shall I go on...) it wasnt the best place to be. I feel doubly guilty because today should have been SF's walking day so I guess he didn't go. I think the Saturday walking group must have an average age of 80+ and when they are walking a car follows on behind to sweep up the stragglers!!
John and I were out for most of the day at a house warming party for Chris and Katie, baby Olivia and yet-to-be-born baby Birkby. John and Chris met each other some years ago in the Navy.
Until recently Chris and Katie lived the other side of Basingstoke - we always used to just miss one another when we tried to catch up - it became a bit of a standing joke to get a text saying "I am in Yeovil mate - shall I come for a cuppa" and we would be in Sheffield or London or Cardiff or we would be passing their house on the way up to Cookham but they would have gone back to Yeovil for the weekend.
It was a really nice day - the weather was kind so there was an opportunity for the kids to go out and play on the bouncy castle in the garden. As they dont seem to come with a mute button I gave them my usual wide berth!! What was spooky though was that I found out that I knew Katie's aunty Sue and that aunty Sue and uncle Steve both new Dad from Westland days - what a small world!
Whilst we were there Mum and Dad phoned, looks like Mum has found herself a new little car and Dad may have come across a reasonably priced Twin Cab for us - he is going to go back and get the details and then discuss with John - it sounds promising as most of the ones we have seen on the internet have been very pricey indeed.
