A Good Day - then Panic...

The day started off clear and bright and our guests got used to their new suroundings.  Laura opted for Vix in Trev and Vix corner to take advantage of the early morning sun as we decided what to do with our day.

After a hearty breakfast we decided to go down to the beach for the remainder of the day and as Latchi is the nearest that is where we headed.

We set up our 'camp' in the normal place next to the lifeguard station although yesterday it wasnt the regular chatty lifeguard and this one had his radio on very quietly indeed!  Although it was a Sunday the beach was extremely quiet so I guess for Cyprus the holiday season is really coming to an end.

Mark and John made for the sea - they said that the water was lovely (once you got in) Larua and I took their word for it preferring to go for a wander along the beach collecting pebbles!  There was a lovely warm wind so it made sitting in the sun very easy indeed so we had a lovely relaxing afternoon chilling.

We packed up late afternoon and took the scenic route home up through Neo Chorio and the goat farms of Androlikou.  When we got back home Chivers was lying on the sofa exactly where we had left him waiting for us expectantly.  We brought the bags in and went to feed him and he had gone - we checked all his normal hiding places and nothing - we moved the sofas, curtains, furniture everything and nothing.  Panic set in as although we were certain the door hadnt been left open he must have got out because he was nowhere to be seen.  The four of us set up a search party with tubs of biscuits to rattle and we called and we searched and we searched and still nothing.  John's heart was in his boots and I could see he was absolutely gutted and I felt sorry for Laura and Mark as it was beginning to put a real damper on the day.

I wasnt quite sure what we were going to do when I suddenly heard John saying that he had found him - Chivs had managed to get in behind the TV cabinet and had been oblivious to our panic.  He emerged looking very bemused by our reaction to his reappearance!  All the colour flooded back into John's face as 'his boy' was obviously safe and sound.

Relief all round thank goodness - the evening could continue as planned.  We had decided to eat in and then go for a wander down into the village to have a drink. The warm wind continued so it was a pleasant walk down to Stathmos and back.

Chivers got lots of extra love this evening and Laura entertained him with the blingy mouse that she had brought as a present.  Big day for him tomorrow as he is being taken to the vets for a check up and his first injection if he is declared fit.  I thought John was going to sleep over in the lounge with him last night as he didnt want to leave him on his own!
