Happy Birthday Mark...

Last night we decided to go down to Polis Square to try the fish restaurant.  It was an exceptionally warm evening (probably helped by the massive fire that was raging between Kathikas and Inea).  Mark and I shared the fish Meze which consisted of 18 plates followed by cake and a brandy, Laura had a mahousive plate of prawns and John resorted to his old favourite a bloody great pork chop.  We all agreed it was a really good meal and a nice place to sit and relax.  It was quite late when we got home so Laura and I retired straight to bed - we think John and Mark started the birthday celebrations a little early.

So today was Marky Mark's birthday and the day started clear and bright.  We had planned to take Mark and Laura up to Viklari (the Last Castle) for lunch and then onto Lara Bay.

We had to go and say goodbye to Sean and Sharon who were flying back to England today and came back laden with the contents of their fridge and freezer!

We arrived at Viklari early so we parked up at the Avakas Gorge and walked up to the point at which you can first see the running water.  We managed to find a stone and set up the camera so that we could take the one and only shot we have of the four of us together.  We needed to work up some sort of appetite for the meal that was to follow!!

We were joined for lunch by Mum and Dad, Aunty Norma and Uncle Tommy, Ray and Janice.  It was a good job we had booked because once again the restaurant was full.  We had prime table once again (the same one we had with Vix and Trev) and we had managed to order Fasoulia with Laura in mind.  We had brought a bottle of bubbly up for Mark and they were happy for us to open it so that Mark and Laura could have a special drink.

Lunch was lovely although the wind started to pick up, it is a bit exposed up there so we were feeling quite cool by the time we left to go along the coast to Lara Bay.

When we arrived it was brilliant sunshine and set up camp - unfortunately all the turtles had gone so Laura wasnt able to see any of them.

It was very windy and the sea was warm but quite rough - still the boys enjoyed it and John is now contemplating getting a body board.  They had enough trouble keeping their trunks on let alone surf the waves on a body board!

We all relaxed on the beach until John saw some really black clouds coming up over the hills heading in our direction so we packed up double quick and managed to get home before the rain came in.  John decided he needed to take Mark into the village to 'check the post' so Laura and I had a bit of a crafting afternoon - Vix you would be so proud of us and it gave me an idea for something I can do when I go crafting with the ladies what lunch!

The boys managed to try all the tavernas in the village before coming home even though the post office was closed!
Temps today have been cooler with IN 24 degrees and OUT 20 degrees rising to 25 when the sun did shine.
