Like Being Back at Work...

So last night Janice, Ray and I went to Sid's Taverna for the quiz.  We had decided to go down early to grab a table 'inside' (well as inside as it can be when the windows are wide open on three sides!!) and so we were eating down there first.  The 'special' was described as beef stroganoff and we decided to give it a go.  Not anything like stroganoff as we know it and the Hungarians would throw their hands up in horror but it was tasty nonetheless but much closer to a boeuf bourguignon!

As a team we didnt do too badly but with only three of us we were lacking in certain areas - not least on the cryptic round that is usually Dad's forte! We probably finished around forth and with many more teams in attendance than usual we didnt think that was too bad.

The thousand euro jackpot did eventually go last night - and not to us unfortunately. Just as well really as we didnt know the answer to the prize question anyway!

So it was back home after a quick coffee and brandy at Janice's for an uneventful night's sleep.

I woke to another beautiful day with clear blue skies and unbroken sunshine.

Although Mum and Dad live so close to Paphos itself their location on the edge of Emba is ideal and so they have the best of both worlds - a semi-rural location and easy access to all the amenities that they need.  They really couldnt wish to live anywhere nicer and to have such a good bunch of neighbours around them.

John called in this morning having taken Chivers for his final of three injections.  Chivers is now officially our responsiblity so he had better buck his ideas up and keep out of mischief and in good health or he is going to cost us a fortune.  He is going to have a rude awakening if he thinks I am going to keep him on a Royal Canin diet for the rest of his days!!

As the temperatures began to rise it was a very pleasant 23 degrees at lunchtime - not that I took much notice because I had a PC day today - first spending time at Rosie and Dave's trying to get the Canoscan N670U to work with Windows 7 and despite following every bit of advice I could find on the Net still no joy - so if anyone can help please let me know.  I know that there arent any specific drivers for the old scanner but other people seem to have been able to make their's work!

Then it was nose to the grindstone to get everything transferred from Dad's old PC to his new laptop and I have been at it all afternoon and have now done it all save set up email for him.  I even dumped the contents of his Ipod and then reloaded I-tunes and resynchronised the Ipod.  That can always be a bit nerve racking just in case everything gets screwed up - apart from everything being duplicated for some reason all is ok and I have gone through and removed the duplicates - all five thousand of them!!!

Sunny clear days lead to chilly old nights and this is not good when you live in a house with tiled floors.  I am just going round to Janice and Rays for the evening and have changed into my trusty TOWIE fluffy slippers - chavvy they might be but essential for keeping your toes warm I can tell you!!!  Poor old John will be freezing tonight on his own up in Droushia - bet he has that gas fire lit especially know that we are fully stocked up with Gas - dont blame him though - nothing worse than sitting around feeling cold!!!

I havent had to do much for Mum and Dad's cat as she seems to have made her bed very firmly on Dad's pillow.  I havent the heart to move her as she looks so comfy - she has been down for a little food and has just asked to go out for a wander - not sure if that means she is going to be out all night - I expect I might see her when I come back later.

Expecting Mum and Dad home tomorrow - they have been to Nicosia today apparently.
