The Power of the Duvet...

Never underestimate the Power of the Duvet...  Temperatures here are gradually dropping as we approach autumn.  At it's height in the middle of the day it can be up around 30 degrees but at night it drops down to about 16 degrees and with the heavy moisture we are finding it quite chilly (dont laugh Vix and Trev!!).

We have finally relented and put on the summer 4.5 tog duvet and it makes such a difference for me as I dont like not feeling some bedding weight on me when I sleep.  Consequently both John and I had a brilliant night's sleep and I woke this morning ready to take on all the domestic chores which I usually hate!

Today I was on cleaning in readiness for Laura and Mark and finishing off the remainder of the ironing from yesterday.

Tiled floors are great but there is no-where for the dust to hide and boy do we get some dust particularly on the days when the BDITFND is working - which it did briefly today.

I managed to completely empty the ironing basket and how good does that feel???  John thought he had stepped into the wrong house this morning when he could see no less than EIGHT ironed shirts waiting for him.  He was shaking his head in amazement and muttering things like 'domestic goddess' albeit very quietly!!!

We had a visit from Irene this morning to plan for Chivers future - she is going to get all his initial injections etc sorted (which we will pay for) and once Sharon has finished administering his other injections we will take him on full time.

We settled down for a cuppa and the last slice of Elena's wedding cake (which was very nice) before having Chivers with us for the afternoon.

The rest of the afternoon was written off as we were cat-sitting.  John has introduced Chivers to the scratching post that Mum and Dad gave us - he didnt really know quite what to make of the ball as it was nearly as big as he is!

We cannot believe how much he seems to grow on a daily basis and he appears to be fairly fit and healthy - his weepy left eye is improving and although he is still skin and bones he has eaten quite a few biscuits this afternoon - mainly though he just looks CUTE and John has to force himself to take him back up the road.

We have just taken him back as John and I, Sharon and Sean are going out to Latchi this evening for something to eat which is great as we have always had a good meal at Faros.

Temperature check for Vix - at 6.00pm it is 24 degrees in and 22 degrees out - have been looking at the weather forecast for the UK today and see that winter is arriving with you this weekend after the unseasonally hot weather over the last couple of days.  Get your thermals out!
