Sometimes You Have to do a Bit of Posh...

For today we decided to treat ourselves to a bit of luxury and spend the day at the Akamas Health Farm and Spa which is just down the road.  I would like to kid you all and say that the photograph is of our pool but faithful followers will know I am joshing!  See how we lowered the tone of the place with our multi-coloured beach towels - still as we had the place to ourselves there was no-one there to witness them!

Actually we weren't entirely on our own as Vicki and I were kept company by a rather large and very vibrant green praying mantis who had made a home on one of the very posh white sunbeds!  Everytime we adjusted position there he was and he was rather lucky not to get squashed!

Anyway onto our day - it was a lovely day in Droushia as you can see from the photographs and the surroundings were stunning.  Our day pass entitled us to the outside pool, gym, tennis court, volleyball court, indoor pool with cycling bikes in the water (!!??) sauna and steam room.

Having checked in and sussed out all the facilities Trev headed straight for the Gym to re-acquaint himself with a rowing machine and Vix and I decided to knock some balls around on the tennis court.

It proved to be a little bit too hot to put ourselves forward for a Grand Slam tournament so we soon called it a day and went to check out the swimming pool.  The water was cool but nice once you had got over the "shit shoot that's bloody cold" initial impression!!

A swim and sunbathe was followed by trying out the Panorama Restaurant which was very nice and offered some lovely food - we had octopus to die for.  We are now keen to try the afternoon high teas and the sunday lunches.  Apparently the menu is changing next week so we will have to go back again.

After lunch John and I tried the indoor pool which was even chillier than the outdoor one so we warmed up by using the sauna and the steam room.  The sauna was fantastic and the smell from the olive wood was out of this world - one last bracing swim and then we all chilled out catching the last of the sun before packing up and going home.

This evening Trev and Vix treated us to a very up-market meal at the Old Tavern Restaurant in Polis.  We have passed it on many occasions meaning to try it out so we were thrilled to be going there.  The restaurant doesnt look much from the outside and it is in an awkward postion right on a major junction but we hadnt realised that there was a beautiful secluded garden at the back where people sit and eat whilst it is still warm enough to do so.

Well fed we took a brief constitutional around Polis Square - dropping by the frozen yoghurt stall before wending our way home.

An excellent day all round!
