We are still deciding where to put the cat-flap but in the meantime, as it is one of those magnetically controlled ones, John has already put the magnets on the kitties collars so that they can get used to them. The magnets look quite sweet as they are like small round fat black mice.
The only trouble is that their bells have attached themselves to the magnets so we can no longer hear the cats when they are running around - so when they go missing we have no idea where they are but worse the magnets keep attaching themselves to random objects so the other day when John was trying to sort out the termites he found Minnie running around with a chisel attached to her! Today she suddenly found herself attached to the arm of the settee outside!
We were off down to Paphos today - we wanted to get our driving licences sorted after the fiasco earlier in the week when the computers were down - and we wanted to get some polythene for the gazebo between the two buildings.
The finished result is on the right - I think I detect the onset of some distinguishing grey streaks around the edges but it could just be a trick of the light!!
We had yet another abortive trip to the Ministry of Transport because when we arrived it was all shut up and we think that, along with many other government departments, they were on strike in protest against the austerity measures being imposed!
Five of us pitched up for Pickleball this afternoon and although it was bright and sunny the wind on the coast was swirling and blustery which made for an interesting afternoon as serves and shots were going all over the place!
On the way back to Mum's we called into Paps in Paphos to pick up a few bits and pieces - the supermarkets are now in full Festive Season mode which means that they have reverted back to opening the same hours as in the Summer and are floor to ceiling in decorations and playing Christmas music! Note to self... don't have your photograph taken after playing pickleball in the wind - it does nothing for your hair!
This evening was the final quiz before Christmas and Spyro's Neighbours were the original six, Mum, Dad, Ray, Janice, John and I. It was an excellent evening as Alan and Jean made sure that all teams won a prize irrespective of whether they won a round or not. We didn't disgrace ourselves as we finished second - how many times since we started have we finished second??? Ray also had a shot at the jackpot prize but unfortunately didn't know the answer. The jackpot rolled over so we start again in January.
Since Alan and Jean started quizzing in March 2007 they have raised an amazing amount of money which totals more than €41,000 for a variety of local charities and they provide a detailed summary of where the money has gone - they do a fantastic job.
