Were the Romans from Italy then???

Last night we spent a relaxing evening watching TV, chilling and having a little drinkie or two.  We had a classic Laura-ism during the Breakaway quiz programme when she asked if the Romans were from Italy - as we pointed out the clue would be that Rome is the Capital of Italy - there are times when she could have given the late Jade Goodie a run for her money!

She redeemed herself by choosing the film "Just Go With It" which was much funnier than we had anticipated and although it was a good old chicky-flicky movie it was one which even John had laugh at.

Laura has been good for John and I because having her here has meant that we have stayed up beyond 10.00pm for several nights in a row although I have to admit I did fall asleep during an episode of Benidorm last night.

Today was Laura's last day and amongst other things she wanted to take some of Paps famous pitta breads home because they are the best and the fresher the better (they were still warm when we got them) so after breakfast we headed off down to Polis and did the shopping.

For being a good girl we were taking Laura back to the Art Cafe to sample the freshly made cakes.  We were lucky that the sun came out so it was lovely to be able to sit outside and today we had the delights of the Moist Orange cake, the Warm Apple cake and the Lemon slice.  Her cakes are delicious and the tea she uses makes a cracking cuppa.  There was great excitement in the cafe today because the kids were going to collect their new tortoise to go with the resident one which was out in its cage enjoying some sunshine and eating some fresh greens.

Talking of fresh greens we decided to take a ride up to the end of the island to see it in all its lush beautifulness with the wonderful wild flowers that are around at the moment.  Plus Laura and Mark have purchased a trailer tent and we keep calling her Trailer Trash and we wanted to show her the campsite that is up by the Baths of Aphrodite.

Just look at what your holiday accommodation could have been and this was one of the better, more organised pitches!

You could tell holiday season is just around the corner as there were a load more caravans, campers and tents there than the last time we went and had a look and there were loads of people out walking.  John and I plan to walk the Adonis trail nearby sooner rather than later as it should be beautiful this time of year and we need to do it before it gets too hot as apparently it is over 7 kilometers with a high degree of difficulty - which sounds more like something Tom Daley would be doing off of a diving board!!

It was beautiful up at the campsite today - the coastline is stunning here and the colours dramatic.  One day we plan to take a boat from Latchi so that we can get to view it from the other side - should make for some interesting photographs.

There were donkeys up at the site today which John and Laura befriended - John was keen to feed them the carrots I had just bought from Paps but had to settle for fistfuls of grass instead.  Nice to see animals looking well fed and well looked after.

We slowly made our way back home for some late lunch - as the minutes ticked away it meant that Laura's departure was getting closer.  We had a leisurely afternoon and then packed up, weighed Laura's cases, declared them to be right on the limit of what was acceptable and drove off slowly down to Emba to have a cuppa with Mum and Dad before finally saying goodbye.

Laura arrived at check-in with plenty of time to spare unlike when she flew over and made it by the skin of her teeth!  The inward flight was on time, there were no problems with the bags and so there was nothing left but to see Laura go through to departures.  We have had a lovely week - it was a shame Mark wasn't here to share it but we have no doubt that it wont be too long before we see them both.
