It would appear that from the evidence we found yesterday Mousegate is NOT over - in fact if the evidence is anything to go by we have a family the size of the picture running amok at night - it begs the question WHAT THE HELL ARE OUR CATS DOING??????? They show absolutely no sign of any interest in there being interlopers in their domain.
They are either fed too well (well we know this as currently they are mooching around to George's or Persephone's for a little je ne sais quoi) or their senses have been dulled by the toys they have been given (thanks Janet for the ones above) - maybe our cats think mice only come in psychedelic colours! The cupboards have been cleaned once again and the trap has been set - time will tell...
This afternoon/evening we had John's mum and stepdad round. The very sad events of yesterday have not been forgotten but they did not personally know the poor lady that died. We thought it might be good to get them up with us just in case the mood at C&A was still very subdued. We managed to get Janet into our pool - not sure how much she is enjoying it! but as I kept saying to her - it's lovely once you get in!!! in fact if you got in and then got back out and then get back in again it felt like a bath!
It was much cooler last night - Janet was fascinated by one of our regular rolling mists that put in an appearance about 7.00pm - but we still managed to eat outside - John got to use his new barbeque. We are slowly but surely introducing the Longdens to some different foods and they are good enough to give them a try rather than just say they don't like them. So John's mum tucked into some local cured sausage - not sure if it was Loukanika or Pastourma which had been cooked in red wine - Hadge declared that the grilled Halloumi was his favourite and we all enjoyed Pimms jellies and Ice-cream for pudding!
Just to show you how cool it got last night this was the state of my windows! Looks like it pouring with rain! You can see why we don't need to water so much when the plants get this sort of drenching in August!
On the subject of the garden - thanks Janet for my new plaque - it's lovely xx
