Over Two Years have passed...

It is more than two years since I decided to stop my daily journal about our move to Cyprus and the life that we have made here for ourselves - our family had been touched by a great sadness and the levity of the blog seemed hugely inappropriate.

Conversations yesterday and a photograph of my beautiful great nephew Jack which appeared on Facebook recently made me realise that life does indeed go on and that without the blog we might, in the future, fail to recall all the things which happen to us as we continue on our journey called retirement.

John has gone to Emba today for his regular badminton sesh and for lunch with Mum and Dad.  I, on the other hand, have been home alone and have spent my time gardening - it is exceptionally hot and sticky here in Droushia - unusually so and the cloud cover which is keeping the warmth in will have an adverse effect on the electricity generated by the PV (photovoltaic) panels - electricity generation is of great interest to us since the installation last December - it was even more interesting when we got our last bill and found that instead of just paying the standing charges we actually owed money - panic set it until we eventually realised that the readings on the previous bill had been transposed.   Mr Lefteris at the Electricity Board in Polis just simply reissued the bill with the readings the right way round - thank goodness John always takes a photograph of the meter when it comes to bill time.  PV is currently (forgive the pun) all consuming - how much have we generated? how much have we used? and how much will we have to carry over to keep us warm during the chilly days of winter? and yes Darren Marsh we do get very chilly days in the winter

We are having a night in tonight and, unlike the night in planned for last night (which ended up being tea and stickies in the afternoon with Cara and Darren followed by a few drinkies and then a walk to Christos' taverna) a night in is what we intend to have because shortly we have visitors to the island and we will be busy busy busy then broke broke broke!

I shall endeavour to keep the blog going again - I have missed it
