Bye Bye Haze but see you soooooooooon!!!

It was with some sadness that I packed up and left Horton Close this morning.  I did so whilst Hazel was at work, partly because I wanted to get off to Uncle David's in plenty of time and partly because I wanted to aoid any messy goodbyes! although Haze will be visiting soon so I will be seeing her again shortly which is fabulous.

My friendship with Hazel stretches back nearly 40 yearas and we spend so much time when we are together saying "Who was? Where were? How did?" and sometimes we even finish each others sentences or anticipate what the other is about to say!!!  I do miss my scatty, kind, party-animal, fashion-guru friend!!

The plan today was to meet up with my sister at Uncle David's and have lunch with Deb and Jonathan and then some or all of us would go onto the hospital to visit my Aunty Joyce and then I would spend the night at Tredegar Road before the final leg of my journey to Gatwick tomorrow.

Everyone pitched up around 12.00 and headed off to the Crown at Playhatch for lunch.  This is a fabulous old pub which has been very nicely decorated inside and we enjoyed a very relaxed lunch all together and Uncle David very kindly paid.

Everyone is remaining very positive about my aunt's prognosis.  There was has been some improvement in her condition thankfully and today she had been able to sit out and eat some soft food for the first time in nearly 2 weeks.

She was so pleased to see us all and although clearly still very poorly joined in the conversation with some enthusiasm.  All this being in hospital as a patient is just so alien to her as she is never normally unwell.  She should draw comfort from the fact that she has a fabulous, close-knit, immediate and extended family along with wonderful friends and acquaintances who are all there to help and support both her and Uncle David.

I have no idea what the future will bring but bless them, Uncle David and Aunty Joyce are still talking about coming out to visit in October and if that is what keeps them going then fair play to them.
