Today the weather was forecast to be stormy but although many of the villages around and about experienced storms Droushia managed to miss it but as a result it was hot and sticky.
My day started with Art at Sheila and Klaus's - John dropped me off and then went on down to Polis to get his long overdue haircut and to get some shopping for me.
We had half an eye on the weather as Sheila had some washing out but as I said Droushia managed to avoid any rain thank goodness.
My picture is progressing well - I think it is unmistakably an Artichoke head in flower and hopefully it will complement the other picture I have done as I want them to look like a 'pair'.
I am thinking that if anyone wants to buy me a present for my 60th a set of Pastel Pencils like Sheila had in a wooden box would be fabulous because if I get some paper I could do more of this at home rather than just on a Monday and when Sheila and Klaus sell their house there is no guarantee they will be nearby for me to shoot along like I currently do. I am hoping they will but you never know. I am always so very grateful that Sheila allows me to make full use of all the pencils, soft pastels and paper that she has.
John was picking me up and I wanted to check the post so he text me from the village to say he had the post and would wait for me up at Marios's new bar. You can walk up the village now although the road is still rough as old boots. It is impossible to work out what stage the work is at particularly as this week, like many others, there are no workers in evidence. All around there has sprung up these massive wooden boxes - apparently in the future electric cables are going to be hidden so every house has to have one of these whether the house is occupied or even occupiable. They seem to have simply smacked a bloody great hole in the wall with a wrecking ball which bears no resemblance to the size and shape of the electricity box and they poke out massively - one can only hope that they are going to stone around them to make them blend in but only time will tell.

Marios' bar is now functioning - the electricity board must have sorted him out. It is a traditional coffee shop affair and I am guessing he is hoping the attract the next generation of Droushian males. He has been busy making rustic tables and tarting up old village chairs. I hope he is successful - he has taken a massive punt opening up something when access is so limited but maybe he has a bit of foresight because once the road outside is cobbled the look and feel of the place will be so very different. Anyway he tells me he doesn't want to be a millionaire which is probably just as well. I have offered to paint some canvasses for him to add some colour and interest to the walls and he is going to have a look to see what sort of thing he might like.
Back home I had a text from my neighbour Persephone. She came round armed with a box of freshly made zucchini 'fritters' and a delicious dip to accompany them. I am really looking forward to having them as a light lunch tomorrow. John had given her part of the humungous marrow-come-courgette on steroids that we had been given at the weekend and last time we did that she made them so big big THANK-YOU to Persephone for that.
John and I nipped round to Lakis's because John wanted to put some chemical into his pool to try and get rid of the little bit of calcium that floats around. Charlie came with us and was very confused as to where all the chairs had gone. Lakis and Argy are currently away - they are taking part in wedding celebrations in Athens. We were a bit worried about them getting to Larnaca airport in one piece ( the car has been playing up a little) and on time (Droushia is just about as far away from the airport as you can be on the island) so we were glad when they text us to say they were in departures and then later to say that they had arrived safe and sound. Hope they have a really fab week. Anyway Charlie didn't hang around for too long, he heard Persephone mention that she had some salmon put aside for him for his supper!!
