Fitos Friday...

It was a slow start to the day.  Everything seems to be taking that bit longer to get going in the mornings not least the sun.  This morning we had heavy rolling mists - the garden was soaking from the overnight condensation which meant that when the cats come in they were also soaking and I cannot locate the cat towels which I put away somewhere safe - never to be found again it would seem.  Mr Boo seems happier now that his abscess has burst and is more or less back to his old self thank goodness - he just needs the opening to heal and his fur to grow back.  He had been out fighting again this morning - we could hear him and John shot out of bed to go and rescue him from under the green bin where he had been cornered by Billy Big Balls or whatever the long haired ginger and white is called.  Today he came home with tram line scratches on the top of his head - it's a good job he is on antibiotics already.

We were at pickleball today although sadly without Di who has had an injury to her little toe and a chesty cold to contend with - plus visitors, so her routine is well out of sync.  We went down a little early to catch up with Mum who was been causing me serious angst this week.  First off I got a call from her cleaner Kim which worried the hell out of me - I had visions she had pitched up for work and found mum collapsed or something - actually what had happened was that she was about the leave when she realised Mum had gone out without her phone and left the front door key in the door.  Nothing major but obviously without her phone we couldn't tell her what Kim had done with the keys.  I tried texting her friend Sue in the hopes Mum might be there, she was but Sue didn't check her phone so that was a bit useless!!  Then I had an email from Mum's friend Eileen who was very concerned because Mum had tried to skype her and left a message asking Eileen to call back asap and Eileen thought it must be something urgent.  I couldn't think that it could be but you never know anyway Mum explained that when she skyped and go no reply she simply hit one of the preset message buttons which said Call Me on Your Return.

We had some cracking games at Pickleball although it was really very warm and humid on court and with only five people there is less chance of sitting out so we were quite grateful to have a bit of a rest back at Mum's and a cold drink and an ice-cream.

We were going out early this evening so stayed as long as we could and then got stuck behind every slow moving vehicle known to man on our way back.  First off was a very overly laden truck which had bags of what looked like grain making the tyres bulge and then just to make sure there was an old metal bedstead and something that looked a bit like a bird cage.  We had to follow this all the way to Peyia before it turned off only to be replaced by a tourist car - a teeny tiny Suzuki Alto Hair Dryer with two adults and at least one child in it which almost went into reverse going up some of the hills but whenever there was a safe place to overtake there was something coming in the other direction preventing us from doing so.   This is the Law of Sod as Dad would have said.  Still we needn't have panicked as there had been a miscommunication between John and his Mum so we were expecting them with us at 6.00pm as our table at Fitos was booked for 6.30pm (so they could watch the sunset) and she thought she was to be at ours for 6.30pm.

We managed to grab the tail end of the sunset as we got to the carpark.  It was completely different to the one when Michelle was with us because tonight there was a heavy bank of purple cloud above the sun.  Even so it was pretty impressive.

We had 'our' table - number 1 where you get the best view of the sunset and where you can control the airflow from the sliding doors.  Thank god that (a) we had booked a table and (b) got our order in sharpish as it was absolutely packed tonight - inside and out - we even got to see Simon who was picking up a takeaway as he and Melanie and the girls are up for the weekend.

Stan was in a right quandary as to what to order - he had enjoyed his pork chop the last time he came but we persuaded him to try the pie - then it wasn't mentioned in the specials but we checked with the kitchen and there was one available so that is what he plumped for.

John and his Mum had a pork chop, Jacky and I chose the salmon.  The salmon was absolutely fabulous, beautifully cooked and such a generous portion.  We enjoyed the salad, dips and pittas to start, then our main courses, then we had Joanna's fabulous filo pastry Orange cake and just as we were going to leave Fitos insisted on a drink from him.  Everyone was well impressed with the quality of the food and the small price we paid - which included two bottles of wine and various beers, cokes and water.

John kindly drove so I got a chance of a little drinkie and it meant we didn't need a taxi.  We took our visitors back to Polis - Kenny was back home overnight but we planned to take him back tomorrow and then go out to the Japanese for lunch.

Everything had gone so well until I picked up Mr Boo to put him on the sofa and then stood on the edge of the rug in my heels and turned my foot over.  I don't think I broke anything but my God it was so painful.
