I am feeling better everyday but this cold is hanging around like a bad smell in fact it could be a bad smell - I don't have any sense of that at the moment so couldn't tell you!!! So think snot, blocked ears, no sense of smell and a feeling like an elephant is sat on my chest and you will get the picture.
After a grim start to the day the sun did break through and John thought I would benefit from some 'fresh air and fun' well not so much fun but definitely fresh air. So dressed like Nanook of the North I ventured into the great outdoors.
Over the last couple of days someone has been and shingled the fronts of 8a and 8b which makes them look tidier but, as I remarked to John, the gardens are on such a multitude of slopes that it will only take another heavy rain-storm and most of that shingle is going to end up halfway down the road. At least Nicky and Mark's new home at 9b has a relatively flat front to it so they wont have that problem. On the subject of the estate we await new tenants in 3a - apparently an oldish couple are taking it on. I wonder if it is Ken and his wife but would have thought they might have told us if it were going to be them. All will be revealed in due course.
John took me down to the village to check the post and to see if we could see any progress - actually it appears that the cobbles are being laid around the back of the church and on the road which leads to Palates - the centre of the village is still a mess but at least there is some progress somewhere! I just can't wait for the time we walk down here and it all looks clean and tidy and cobbled!! It is such a nightmare for the few businesses that we do have in the village that are struggling to make a living.
As some of you know John has taken to feeding Little Dog who is now mum to two beautiful puppies. Their future is uncertain but at least we can feel happy that we did not ignore them and feeding them the scraps from the pigs' livers we give to Boo and Minnie is no hardship - at least it doesn't go in the bin. They never stand still long enough for me to get a photograph.
Anyway the dog in the photograph is not Little Dog - this is Lindy and Lindy is the subject of a really really heartwarming story and the reason why I love social media when it works well.
We recently met a couple who are going to be living in Kathikas permanently in a month's time and we pointed them in the direction of sites/blogs etc which might help them with their research and questions whilst they were getting ready for their big move.
Anyway they had been to Vasilikon Winery yesterday and had posted a question as to whether anyone know anything about this poor super skinny but super friendly dog that was hanging around and was starving. They had fallen in love with her and would have rescued her had they not been going home on Sunday. They didn't know what to do to try and ensure her safety until they are back permanently and I suggested they contact Stray Haven to see whether, if they were to sponsor her, Stray Haven would take her in until they return and would be in a position to give her a home. It was a bit of a long shot as I know they are full to bursting but thought that if it was only space that was needed and she was not to be a drain on their limited income they might help. To cut a long story short Skinny Dog was captured and Stray Haven did agree to board her - Skinny Dog was named Lindy and went to her temporary home last night - she will be safe and will no longer be starving and she will, in due course, start a new life with people who will love her. This was all done and dusted in a couple of hours - just sometimes Social Media is the best thing ever!!
