Welcome Newbies...

Today was very very hot and so we really didn't feel like doing too much.  Before lockdown, literally just before, we had met a couple who had decided to move over from the UK.  They had rented a property in Kathikas and we got talking to them in the Gin Bar.  His name is Das and her name is Belinda and Das is of Greek Cypriot decent.  They had expected to go home for a week or so to wrap up their house sale and shipping their goods and then be back but they were on one of the last flights out and then had to wait and wait until they were able to secure a repatriation flight.  It has been a long, frustrating and worrying time for them particularly as they had also rescued a dog prior to leaving and was paying for her to be looked after in their absence.

Last week they finally managed to get over and we wanted to just swing by and welcome them to their new home.

They had said that they were short of lots of things but particularly some comfortable chairs so they could sit on their veranda and watch the world go by.

We had a couple they could borrow but warned them they were elderly so there was a chance that they could sit on them and fall through!!!  We also took some homemade jam, fresh oranges and a bottle of wine.

They are settling in and taking their time to get used to the slower pace of life and to decide exactly where they want to live as they have an option to buy the property they are renting.  I hadn't noticed before but on leaving spotted the massive fir tree right outside their front door - I think I might have that reduced in height just a tad!!!

We came home and decided to eat outside this evening.  We were having the chicken which we should have had yesterday.  It was disappointing to say the least - I reckon this bugger was some old road runner as it was tough even though I had cooked it as directed and all the reviews on that recipe said melt in the mouth.  I hate it when I go to all that effort and then don't enjoy the meal.  Mum had a lucky escape to be honest!!  I shall be making a curry out of the remainder if I can get the meat tender enough.

It looked like it was going to be a long, hot and sticky night so we are leaving the cover off of the pool so we can jump in at any time!
