Getting things done

The mornings are beautiful at the moment although I have noticed that sunrise is getting later and later so now it is sometime after 6.00am.  There is a stillness that settles over the garden along with a golden light and the air is fresh.  The evenings have been much cooler than last week, cool and slightly damp although not so bad that we have have to bring all the cushions in.  Miss Minnie is like a living alarm clock as she comes to tell us she is hungry around the same day every day.  It was my turn to get up and sort them today but not before I had taken some photographs of the garden.

Today had been written off in terms of doing anything at our house because we had arranged for Richard to come and clean the railings, shutters and windows over at Argy's as they are due to arrive tomorrow.

He was at great pains to reiterate that he is 'not the quickest' and so with everything we had asked him to clean he was working solidly for six hours!!!  John and I took it in turns to keep him company and make sure he was taking on fluids.  We also took the opportunity to give the house a bit of a tidy and a sweep through.  We know that Argy will arm herself with a mop as soon as she is able but we just wanted it to look half decent when they arrive which, all things being equal, will be latish tomorrow evening.  John will go and pick them up - fully masked up, but I will wait until they have the all clear before going round as I have to ensure that I do the best I can not to go near anyone that may have the virus so that I do not pass anything on to Mum.

John has been battling with their pool which is different to ours in that is it a salt water system and the weather has been burning off the chemicals left, right and centre and the input water from the mains, which is used to top up, contributes to the imbalance.  If John had much hair he would be tearing it out - he is going to speak to Lakis and see if Mani will come from ShipShape to give the system a service and an MOT.

Once Richard had finished we managed to shoot down to Paps to get the shopping Argy wanted so that they haven't got to panic about eating when they arrive, our shopping, a few bits for Nicky and a couple of things for Les - thankfully the supermarket wasn't too busy and we got nearly everything on the list with just a couple of substitutions.

We were having a 'date-night' supper this evening - we had bought some fillet steak and were having it with some sauce, a salad and some hasselback potatoes - this proved quite a challenge as my existing microwave keeps stopping and switching off - I think it is overheating which is a worry so I am going to use RSS (now that I know the system works) to get a replacement.

It was a very very strange evening weatherwise - we had rolling mists.  I had a walk down the path to locate Charlie and Boo before going to bed and could see the damp swirling around the street light.  Over the road Marky-Mark was watching the same thing so we had a little chat before saying goodnight!
