We have found out that the little snake that was in the garden on Wednesday night was nothing to be worried about. It was either a Cat Snake or a Coin Snake - neither of which are venomous. Apparently none of the snakes here which have long thin tails are dangerous which is good and even if it had been a viper we would have adopted the same strategy of encouraging it to move along and find somewhere else to reside.
This morning we were going off down to Emba because Mum was having her sunroom windows measured for the UV film that we have had put on the front of the conservatory and which we have decided we will also have fitted to the back of the conservatory. Mum also had Richard coming to wash her fly screens, shutters and runners so a busy day for her. Ian, the window film man, had arrived early just before us so poor Mum had absolutely no idea who he was!!! He quickly measured up and with the price agreed Mum will have the windows done next week. Whilst this was going on Richard was just plodding along getting his job done bless him. As he says he isn't the quickest but he is so thorough. He managed to release some of the shutters which we aren't sure have opened in all the time Mum has lived there! He certainly earned his Euros working in full sunshine for most of the time.
We left Mum's and called into Steptoes to order our new mattress which is very exciting as we haven't had a new one for about 10 years if not more. It is being delivered next week and they will take the old one away. Everything went swimmingly until John came to pay with his newly acquired Revolut card when the Computer said NO - that bloody card has been nothing but trouble since it arrived and so we had to resort to our normal debit card and leave John to sort out the issue on our return.

On our way home we had a call from Nicky to see whether John would be able to get a bookshelf on the roofbars of the Peugeot for her as she had managed to find something to put in their makeshift kitchen in Emba. We were sure it would be no problem except that we were in Paphos in Kenny and she needed the Peugeot in Polemi before 1.00pm!!! We could not promise we would get back to Droushia in time to go down to Polemi but as it happens we did and John went off with Nicky to get said item and she was then able to spend the afternoon sorting out boxes and putting stuff away.
Realising that they would be hot and bothered we invited them to come for a swim to cool down which they did late afternoon and then joined us for a couple of sundowners to herald in the weekend - which we did.
